I make $13 an hour on the "real job" I have.

On youtube, I make anywhere from $2k-$3k a month. The $2000 you see there is the full money I'll get. Nothing else deducted from it.

In order to get paid now, you need 1k subscribers and 4k hours of watchtime. The requirements used to be less strict until the Logan Paul situation.

Youtube favors those who upload regularly or on a consistent basis. You may have that one viral video, but eventually that video will have a "time limit" and stop gaining views all together. If you are semi popular and have some relevance, your videos will be put on the suggested lists and recommended lists. Attracting more viewers, potentially more subs, and making more money.

Subs are cool, but from my analytics the majority of people who watch the videos I make are not subbed. Monthly I get around 7k-10k subs a month

It's a system that more favors quantity rather than quality. Unless you're super huge, uploading once a week or every few weeks would be suicide for a channel. You won't build up fans as well, nor be promoted by youtube or hit the search engines as much. Usually if a video I upload has 100k views, I'll get around $100 more or less.

Nice. You're pretty lucky, as I've seen people having to deal with their videos getting falsely claimed by fake companies.

For people who don't know why so many youtubers say this(aside from asking to subscribe)

The reason is because it drives engagement. More likes increase the chance of it being promoted and showing up in search engines, and on suggested and recommended feeds. A video that's constantly getting liked and commented(1k Likes and 300+ comments) on will do much better than a video with only 200 likes and only 50 comments.

atleast this is from personal experience. I started asking people similar stuff and saw an increase in views and comments.

Yeah, a lot of stuff many find annoying (asking for likes, clickbait titles etc) do ultimately work in driving views and so profits. Is what it is, so worth putting up with for creators you like I think.

Well you gotta stand out and establish a reliable niche pretty quickly. Not sure Id use avant-garde though lol. Logan Paul hasnt been on YouTube for that long

I was starting to pull about $100 a month before YouTube took me off. I'm getting like 3-4 subs a day now though which is insane.

That's cool. Is this something you can see yourself doing full-time? I made a couple videos myself and the amount of time editing the video was much longer than I expected.

My YouTube channel is in limbo, my computer died and I couldn't make videos. Now I just started streaming on twitch through my ps4. I've never had any views while playing monster hunter, but my cousin got 2 while playing overwatch for like 10 minutes. lol

I don't have a Patreon, but I know a much bigger youtuber called ReviewTechUSA, whom has had big issues with youtube demonetizing his videos makes 1.2k per month on Patreon
