Board 8 > Whats your opinion on Videl from DBZ?

Like, I really liked her and the defrosting development she went through in the Great Saiyaman arc but not so much everything after that

it was cool they had another action girl but I never expected her to gain enough strength to stand up with the Z fighters. So I'm not really sure why I don't like what they did with Videl

Is it that her personality did a full 180?
It must be a Japanese thing or something

She was alright. Good design and stuff but she ultimately didn't get used much, along with the rest of the Gohan storyline doing the Boo arc.

I mean as far as Z goes, post-tournament I can't think of anything more they could do with her. I did love the Videl vs Spopovich fight, yeah she get wrecked but she put up a hell of a fight through it all and it was simply impressive for her character.

When it comes to GT & Super it's pretty evident they had no idea what more they'd be doing with the character past Buu Saga. I cut her some slack in early Super since she's just pregnant and then just given birth to Pan, but after a while that just becomes what her character is now and it sucks.

Also as far as strength, yeah she was a human that couldn't match the Z Fighters in Buu Saga but it's stupid to say she couldn't have been trained to their level imho -- it's Dragon Ball, if they wanted to make her stronger they would have, having her continuing to train with Gohan as a hobby.

I really wish we could get some Great Saiyaman 1 & 2 action going between Gohan & Videl, works out with the timing of the recent Super arc of Videl getting Gohan back into it.

Shes great in DBZ. Its a shame they had her quit being the tomboy fighter girl she was though. I mean I can understand because of what happened to her and how she met people who were literally billions of times stronger than she could ever hope to be, but still. Im still holding out hope she ends up as FighterZ DLC with a cool melee focused build

Awesome character, one of my favs (only saw her during Saiyaman saga really). Great way to give the audience someone to relate to, as a totally normal human who could actually tap into this internal energy, instead of being from some godlike bloodline like everyone else. Haircut and design is great. Romance with Gohan is great. Definitely want her in DBFZ.

To be fair, Chi Chi occasionally reminds us that she used to be a fighter who ranked pretty high in a martial arts tournament for the sole purpose of forcing Goku to fulfill his accidental promise to marry her.

Honestly, I want a story arc where the Z-Fighters are off doing something else and Chi Chi and Videl get a chance to remind everyone that they're still far better fighters than most humans are.

I proposed the idea once that there should've been a series where the "useless" characters are off flying in Space fighting off Frieza's remaining forces while the Saiyans are doing their own thing. Since his forces COULD at least still prove a challenge to them
