Then the link functionality got taken down in conjunction with MegaUpload going down back in like 2010 or 2011 or whatever. The community was always really toxic and abusive but there were are even more normal users that weren't asshats. But with the links going offline people started leaving the site leaving mostly trolls. I stopped going there about a year ago - the userbase was going down and most of the topics were "CJ" (circlejerks dedicated to ... like NFL or anime) and trolling each other. Oh also there were some fun original memes and whatnot over the years but the last several years most of the content has just been stuff reposted from 4chan and reddit so ... might as well just go to the source you know?
