Adamantium is hard and the claws are sharp, but Wolverine doesn't really have much in the way of super-strength. He'd need a lot of force to pierce through harder or thicker metals.

But even if he was a strong as the Juggernaut he isn't breaking Cap's Vibranium-alloy shield. That thing is on an entirely different level of durability compared to adamantium. You basically need magic or cosmic powers to break it.

The current assumption is that Admantium is stronger since it can't be broken down only superheated until it returns to liquid form. Vibranium absorbs all forces but technically has a limit that would cause it to breakdown.

While this is true for vibranium, it should be noted that Cap's shield is a Vibranium-steel alloy that used an unknown catalyst. Attempts to recreate the shield resulting in the creation of a similar, but inferior alloy called adamantium.
