on the one hand I am not sure i like the animation style they are using. but on the other hand, I liked Spiderverse and I'm kinda hyped to see a movie based on it. I never thought one would happen so quick. figured it might be years still before we got a spiderverse movie, even if it's only animated...

Because they killed off Ultimate Parker -- one of my favorite Spidey incarnations and the basis for the Spectacular Spidey cartoon -- then almost immediately replaced him with Morales as a pointless diversity move.

they did that because the Ultimate universe was starting to lose fans. People were losing interest. for most of its lifespan, Ultimate was mostly just a variation of 616. they had the same characters, did the same events. some people were just younger than in 616. But it was mostly similar. So Marvel decided to shake things up and make Ultimate more different, and one of the first things they thought of was "let's kill Peter". It was a way to kill spiderman without killing spiderman. And I remember all the non comic readers talking about it and thinking 616 spidy had died. it even made the news, and the news got it wrong too

one thing that really bugged me though is that Peter's family and friends didn't seem to be as sad as they should have been, after he died. I remember thinking t hey were acting kinda weird. like Aunt May goes on a vacation to Europe I think. wtf. they didn't seem to be that much in mourning. I do think that was the moment when I gave up on Ultimate.

Not really true given that there were some pretty significant changes made to the Avengers and X-Men, right down to the death of several major characters.

Otherwise one of the biggest problems with Morales was the handling of the storyline. Had Morales been brought in earlier (as a supporting Spider-Man character or sidekick) or if there had been a longer gap before Morales was replaced, the whole thing might not have annoyed me as much. Hell, they could have even ran the Morales Spider-Man as a separate book or wrote Peter into retirement. Instead you have this epic final battle where he goes out a hero and, before the dust is settled, they replaced him with a completely new character.

well they did bring Peter back eventually, I heard. he somehow came back to life, but then his entire universe was destroyed so he died again anyway. Miles somehow traveled from Ultimate to 616 where he lives now. I don't really understand that part but there is a chunk of stuff in recent years I haven't read.

but I know he is a science rival of Kamala Khan. they competed in an invention contest once

Yeah, Ultimate Peter was a great character, but you cannot really hold his death against Miles existing.

Ultimate killed of a lot of big names, it is what it did. There's a reason my Marvel knowledge is a bit skewed, because when it comes to Marvel comics I have only read the Ultimate comics.

early Ultimate was good. but it kinda weird and dumb after a while. you should check out some main universe (616) stuff. there are lots of really good stories in there

The original reason of 1610 existing is what drew me into reading it, as it had always been why I'd been reluctant of reading Marvel comics.

Still, with everything combined, I never really felt like reading 616. I have read some Battleworlds and '92, but the only thing that would really interest me right now is more Young Ultimates (if that was the name they were going by, not entirely sure).

if you are interested in younger heroes, 616 does have Kamala Khan, the new Ms Marvel. the original Ms Marvel got promoted to Captain Marvel. Kamala Khan is a muslim girl that gains super powers and becomes the new Ms Marvel. she can stretch and shrink and grow different parts of her body. she is sortof like Mr Fantastic but a little different. and she's really cute and adorable and funny. I would recommend checking her out.

Not particularily, I just really liked the dynamics in that team. I really liked Ultimate Scarlet Spider (or whatever codename she feels like going by the current day of the week) and the team she led at that point, consisting of classics and new characters. (Really liked the story arc of the mom and daughter duo)

Kinda can, since it was done to bring him in. I can't help but associate Miles's beginning with Parker's end.

I was big into the 2099 stuff, but that also ended. Was happy to see Miguel O'Hara see a resurgence in recent years.
