Board 8 > Would you say 84 is a good score on Metacritic?

The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Board has a lot of people fussing over the score. Doesnt 84 still mean great, much less good?

no i refuse to devote any amount of time to anything that gets under a 90 on metacritic.

i mean if i'm being generous i could maybe deign to look at something that gets a 89 but 88 (and equivalents on other scales) and below is trash.

I know right I was about to buy this game I saw had a 90 rating but when I refreshed two new reviews dropped it down to 89 and I knew it was complete shit.

sure, that's a decent score

but games can get 90s and still be bad, or not for me. you have to look at gameplay clips yourself or take friends' recommendations

back when it came out, star ocean 3 had maybe an 88 average, and that game was terrible

Depends on the game and hype level

84 for Xenoblade 2 makes perfect sense and if they really bitch about it they are dumb
84 for Zelda Breath of the Wild or Mario Odyssey would be super disappointing and not a "good score"
