I've watched all of the F13 movies, all of the NotES movies, and several Halloween movies.

Best Movie: Halloween
Best Series: Nightmare on Elm Street
Best Slasher: Freddy
Best Kill:

Halloween is the strongest and classiest movie, but its sequels are complete garbage. I didn't get to the one where Busta Rhymes defeats Michael Myers, but I can see why they decided to just ignore all of the movies except the first one and reboot it again.

F13 is garbage the whole way through. It just feels like cheap exploitation. Most of it's not even funny bad, it's just kind of boring. I feel like if you took all of Jason's good kills, you'd have two decent movies. Jason X is the only one that even feels like a real movie.

NotES 1, 3, and 4 are good, though 3 and 4 are good as complete shlock, which I love. 5 and 6 are awful, 7 doesn't even count (it's about weird fourth wall stuff where Freddy attacks people in the 'real world'), and 2 is just weird. The director admitted he wanted to insert homoerotic subtext and went overboard, so it comes off as incredibly gay.

Overall, I've enjoyed this genre, but I see why it died. Also, Freddy vs Jason is fun but makes 0% sense.

if you're not watching slashers for homoerotic subtext then what's the point

New Nightmare is pretty damn good. Certainly the scariest one since the original. That Freddy was not a funny quip machine, that Freddy wanted to fuck you up

Also you should watch the original Scream for the novelty of a movie that was intended to kill (hoho) the Stupid Slasher genre forever, but ended up being good enough to bring it back for a few years

If you haven't seen it, check out Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

it's definitely better after having watched other big slashers

I'll mark that down.

I plan to. I saw it years ago shortly after it came out. My parents had a lax policy on seeing R-rated movies as a little kid.

I still haven't seen Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
