Besides some gratuitous greenscreen and a few out of place quips (but Tsundere Batman is now best Batman) it was good.

Superman was filled with confidence and hope. Batman seemed somber but not joyless. Flash was basically his TV show interpretation, which is good. Wonder Woman was still great. Aquaman was kind of weak, but serviceable. Cyborg was cool.

I remember some review complained about Male Gaze. Gal Gadot does have a Wonderful ass shot but to be fair, we also get to see Aquaman's Pacific sized bulge and shirtless Superman.

And the first credits scene was really nice.

The real problem is that this movie isnt as impactful as it could be because the stories that lead up to it have been crap.

But if you go into it pretending MoS and BVS dont exist, its still a lot of fun.

Idk. I think the DCEU baggage really biased the critical reception against this film. It had issues but was actually really good and fun. Not saying any reviews were bought, but I think if this movie came first it wouldve been better receieved.

Just don't go in immediately comparing it to Marvel's team movie stuff. That's just setting yourself up for even more disappointment. DC sucks at those; we know it. This could have been worse than it was.

IMO it was still interesting enough to be watchable. Not as great as it could have been, but that's a higher bar than most critics are realizing (the Justice League is not easy to put on live cinema without looking like a laughable circus, even more so than the Avengers).

He spent the entire first season being an awkward beta nerd who couldnt even keep eye contact with Iris.

Except in this version he didnt grow up with an adoptive family fufufufu

Seriously my dudes. I went into MoS and was super disappointed. I went into BvS, saw the Metropolis opening with Bruce, and thought "this might be good", and those hopes were dashed on the rocks.

I went into this movie, spent the whole time waiting for it to get bad. It never did.

"Superman died too soon". Yes, but they worked with what they had and pulled it off nice. Seeing the opening of the movie, you can believe that the death of Superman left a hole in society's heart. And that unrest is what stirs the main plot.

Batman teased to form the League. You think "of course the Bat messiah does everything". But the formation of the League is actually used as character building for Batman. He knows he fucked up and this was his way of atoning. By forming the League he's becoming Batman again, rather than the maniac vigilante from BvS. And its handled well and used to create friction and chemistry between him and WW.

"Oh of course Superman returns right after he died". Superman's rez is handled logically in means. Also his "resurrection sickness" is a handy plot device to resolve the differences between him and Batman. It gives us a cool "hero v hero" fight that doesnt feel like forced drama, but rather resolves pent up drama from earlier plot threads.

Cyborgs plot is broody but not grossly so. He grows quickly and naturally into a pretty likable, proactive character.

The villain is your typical world ending herald. I never read much Darkseid stuff. But the lore they gave for him is pretty well crafted and the mechanics of the parademons fear-tracking are used cleverly.

And they actually pulled off a fight where Superman can be badass, not at the expense of everyone else. He's the main, big gun, but he can't do everything.

Honestly the "worst " characterization, ironically, is probably Batman. He was done relatively well, but I think they tried too hard to reverse his BvS image and some moments came out ooc for him. But I'll forgive it because "I dont not" is probably the best unintentionally funny line in a superhero film.

Its not high art. But its fun.

Stevie picking up the last Mother Box after literally everyone went to go BvS2, was dumb, like slapstick dumb. Like for this one moment, the movie turned into a straight up comedy. The worst part is, tonally it's hard to know if it's supposed to be funny or not. Like if that scene were in the Avengers, it would totally be played for laughs. But Snyder has done stuff just like that and totally expected the audience to take it seriously. So I don't know, and the tone is inconsistent, and this schizophrenia is kind of a synecdoche for the whole movie.

I forget tbh. It was during one of his action scenes. He gets knocked back or something and his legs are spread and his crotch armor is very conspiscuous.

Ill agree with the inconsistent tone. It feels like some of the jokes were added last minute, and some felt out of place.

But that scene I thought was fine. After he realized "mother box" and "change engine" were the same thing, the only hurdle was a quick trip back and forth.

I laughed pretty hard after Evil Supes beat down WW, AM, Cyborg, and Flash....and then Batman kinda jogs to the battle.

I just pictured him jogging through the streets in his batman costume to get there, gasping and out of breath.
