I got my blood drawn like three times last winter, plus got two anthrax shots and one or two other immunizations and I was fine.

Gotta get a stupid flu shot today and it's like wrackin' my nerves

Not sure. I've never had a problem with shots, but my brother used to get panic attacks when they tried to give him one.

I don't fear shots but I can definitely understand why people do.

1. Pain.
2. Literally inserting chemicals into your blood.
3. Possibility of error resulting in the wrong chemicals in your blood.
4. Possibility of poor sanitation resulting in incurable disease.
5. Vaccination makes no sense intuitively. On paper, it's a terrible idea.

There are some people that just don't like the feeling of a sharp metal object being inserted into your skin.

Nobody likes that feeling but it's still better than the feeling of measles.

I used to hate shots growing up, for some reason the lead up to the shot was terrifying, I always thought it would hurt way more than it actually did. Now I still don't like it, but I suck it up.

I know some people who can't even look at the needle going into the skin or they will pass out, that seems different

Yeah for me I don't think it's the needle itself, and in fact in the past the more painful the injection the better I felt afterwards >_>. I think it's the idea of injecting foreign agents/chemicals into your body. In fact in the past when I have gotten light-headed or passed out, it happened after the needle was already taken out.

Did just fine today though, was nervous in the lead-up and then the lady just popped it in and I was done. Didn't even do the whole "talk through it to take your mind off the shot" technique.

I just have to get over my fear of the optometrist now... That's a weird one most people don't understand, but taking drops to the eye that force your eyelids open, tint your vision yellow and dilate your pupils just really screws me up.
