The real blame goes on the entire world of Neo Olde Tokyo for thinking that giving a giant robot (that works by directly linking to your nervous system so you feel all the pain, and is prone to flipping shit and going berserk) to a neurotic junior high boy who can barely zip up his pants without having an existential crisis, was a good idea.
