it runs so much slower and bogs my computer down AND it has ads that play sound like just fuck off

i normally advocate turning off adblock to support sites I enjoy, but fuck this noise.

I never got the mentality of making ads more intrusive and obnoxious only to be bitching and complaining about how everyone uses adblockers now.

It's like if you don't want people to be using them, how about making ads more tolerable? It's no surprise how people try to avoid things that are intrusive and annoying.

my general approach to using ad blockers is that i give the site the benefit of the doubt and only turn the blocker on if they serve up ads i find intrusive or anoying.

and, funnily, as i was typing this up my comp lagged so bad from trying to load an ad that i didn't even see the characters appear on the screen until the sentence was finished. this is a brand new laptop, so that's not the problem.

You're supporting the site by allowing yourself to see ads? Are you buying stuff from those ads? Or does GFaqs lose money from adblockers?

I tried checking it out without adblock awhile ago and holy shit it was awful. I thought people exaggerated but it lagged so badly that it took a few seconds to load what I had just typed

Yep, this site one rare exception to the rule that ads shoyld be left on because they are only a minor annoyance and make profit for the website.

The ads on this site make the mobile version literally unusuable.

i think sites get ad revenue based on the # of ads served up, regardless of whether you click of them or not. but there are lots of ad networks/companies out there and i suspect they all work a little differently.

one of the ad blockers, ublock, actually allows the ads to be served up (ie delivered to your browser), so the site gets 'credit', but you don't actually see them.

Yeah ublock origin is where it's at these days. It's what adblock used to be.
