He didn't even care if his team won or lost, he was going to blow up everything for pissing him off.

I also liked how in the manga, his birthday present to Makuro was kidnapping her old master and allowing her to torture/kill him as she liked He just does not care lmao

he was my favorite character growing up, but now it's Yusuke.

Hiei is still great, though.

when he tamed the Darkness of Dragon Flame, I went, "oh, shit!"

Kuwabara is actually my favorite. But I just love that doofus. Hiei for me always had the most hype moments. The Dragon Flame turning that one opponent into a burned shadow of ash was cray.

Kurama was my favorite but Hiei was probably second. The great thing about this show is all four leads were awesome and mostly relevant (until Kuwabara got sidelined in the last arc), they all had their chances to shine.

Nope.

Yusuke is thanks to his ancestor.

The second time he uses Dragon of the Darkness Flame is the coolest part of the entire show IMO.

His full demon form is stronger than everyone else until Yusuke awakens as a Mazaku but he obviously can't really access that so it doesn't count until he can regularly. And by that point, Hiei has roughly caught up and Yusuke is stronger. Hiei was also once an A Class demon and lost it all when he implanted the Jagan Eye (basically rewriting him so that they can explain away why he is so weak if he was feared and had been around for so long or something, I guess). I think he's weaker than Kurama but it's probably close.

Hiei was a demon too. Kurama was strong enough on his own that even Hiei was scared of him, but Kurama also had that Silver Fox form or whatever it was called that let out his full power.

yea, I think that Hiei said something about teaming up with him because he was someone he wouldn't wanna face, or something along those lines.

Hiei? The show pronounced it "Hee-ay". At least the english dub did (that's the one I watched).

I think the original plan was to only include Hiei as a one-off badguy, but fans wanted him to become important. That would explain why he was a cookie cutter villain at first.

That's why they added the story about the Jagan eye afterwards when they went to the Demon World. To explain why he doesn't use it anymore and why he's so knowledgeable or whatever while seemingly being so weak.

Jagan eye implant set him back to the lowest class of demon and made him even more rageful or something. I just went with it, I'm glad they kept him around instead of being a one-shot.

Oh yeah I remember the artificial eye. I forgot it messed with his class.

I do remember vaguely a scene where Koenma tells Hiei his class, and Hiei get's all pissy about it. fufu

Idk. S-Class was such a freaking disappointment.

During the DT and Chapter Black arcs, it was like "Dude, we can't let S-Class demons into Earth, we literally can't do anything to them"

Then we see them and one's an emaciated vegan dork, one's a blind bishounen who looks like a lame, diet Kurama, and one is legitimately pretty cool though not nearly as badass as they were hyped to be.

And it turns out demons aren't all that bad anyways apparently. Idk. Last arc was kinda lame. But we got to see that drunk Aussie one last time.

I mean, I did end up liking them. But they hardly lived up to the world-ending super-bosses the previous arcs made them out to be.

I liked how they looked but I definitely agree that the way Koenma described does not remotely live up to expectations. Sure, they're supremely powerful and no one on Earth can actually stop them, but they don't really have the world-ending look or feel to them, if you know what I mean. And the fact they made A and S class demons into essentially fodder right after introducing them is also garbage. It was bad enough to make B class seem like fodder after what they went through with Toguro, but doing that to the later classes right after they're introduced was pretty weak.

I still enjoyed the arc, it just was pretty disappointing overall. I think it really dropped when Yusuke died again, that's where I think the dip was the most pronounced since I thought the Sensui arc was pretty cool and the scale of strength didn't seem to be that big of a jump from Toguro since most fo the Psychic stuff was playing around their territories rather than sheer strength. They threw that out the window with Yusuke's death and, honestly, a bit earlier with the Sacred energy as well.

Kuwabara lost the most fights and had some of the least clean wins, but he still stayed relevant and at least competent until the last arc. Hiei had the most decisive and victories, pretty much all of them were curbstomps. Kurama edged the line since he got battered all the time, but most of the time his wins were decided long before he actually struck the blow, he was just bidding his time.

Yusuke's fights were all over the place.

I like it for the characters, fights and the sappy love story. The reasons (ie the main story) for all that stuff seemed pretty hokey.

I like kuwabara the most because he is the only pretty much normal human

Also the English dub is so funny

It added an interesting twist to the lore, but it felt like a different (and inferior) show. It was like going from DB to DBZ, but it needed more time to be fleshed out. And too many of the old Dark Tournament characters became stronger than Toguro.
