Give Serge dialogue, since he's so deeply ingrained in the plot.

Get rid of all the extraneous characters and focus on those who are relevant or have a realistic stake in the adventure.

And just in general completely re-edit the story. Make Guile a main character and have him regain his memories at some point.

Have Lynx being Serge's dad actually be important.

Considering the absolute depressing turn the lore took after Trigger, give the old cast a proper send-off somehow. At the very least throw in some time-portal side-quests that let you see first hand the fall of Guardia, and Lucca, Crono, and Marle's last moments. (Yeah the game's gimmick is "Sliders" but who cares, that stuff is always fan-service anyway). Maybe let us beat the shit out of Dalton. And give Robo a proper death-scene.

Chrono Cross has a pretty sweet story, but the execution is a total mess. We're never going to get a "new" game, but perhaps a remake with some budget-3D engine would be feasible. >_>

I wouldn't be against that. I liked Cross a fair bit but it could have tightened things up a fair bit.
