that wasn't true AI, that was AI that learned habits from human input and training....so in other words, it became racist, it wasnt made that way

That's called Weak A.I.

What we are worried about is Strong A.I.

Oh, I know. I meant to put "People worry about AI's destroying humanity anytime soon". My bad.

For strong A.I. to become a threat(or even exist really), humanity first has to become capable of creating something greater then ourselves. We're a long way off.

Microsoft's Tay bot just used Markov chains / language prediction. It wasn't an AI.

For sure.

It's scary to think how that will turn out. Will the sentience of a machine be incredibly just and fair? Will it determine that humanity harms itself too much and destroy us all to 'save us?'

I'm of the mind that a truly advanced sentience will consider itself to be above us. Much like we ignore the lives of ants, I'd think that something capable of higher thought and the ability of perpetual replication wouldn't worry too much about what we, as mortals, do.

Although, attempting to understand the thought process of something vastly superior to myself is kind of silly. It could be capable of emotions, have a bad day, and waste us all. Sadly, the chance of finding out in my lifetime is close to zero.

You're right. The point I was making is if that is the best we can do right now, true A.I. is so far away it isn't worth worrying about right now.
