literally put Trump's head on the body of a pig and had it vomiting shit with the word "CHARADE" printed over. pictures of him driving that tiny little car with that angry look on his face. pictures of him holding a micro-penis in his hands like a machine gun.

bravo, Roger, bravo.

here's a video of the show, but not the one i saw last night

The pig video is from Desert Trip, a 6-act festival from last October, before the election. Those shows and 2 in Mexico City were templates for the current Us + Them tour. I was 20' from the stage during the second weekend.

One of the best experiences of my life, and I was amazed by how anti-Trump his shows was, especially considering none of the other acts were political (aside from Young's standard environmentalism). I literally couldn't see all three giant screens at once and had to keep turning my head to take it all in.

"Big man, pig man, ha-ha, charade you are."

I went to his Greensboro show Tuesday night. It was indeed a fantastic show. The whole first act, I was wondering what the boxes hanging up in the middle of the arena were. I didn't expect the entire factory and smoke stacks to be created from them.

i saw that one, too. that was a damn fine performance, but i enjoyed this show more due to the song selection being more from DSotM and Animals and less Wall. don't get me wrong, I love The Wall, but it's the weakest of the 'prime' Floyd albums, imo.

when the second set started and those things got lowered down i was really confused. then they started 'unfolding' and getting taller and taller and taller. very cool, indeed.

I don't consider that a 'prime' Floyd album.

DSoTM, WYWH, Animals, The Wall are the 'main 4'

I was impressed at the quality of the screen behind him. It was so massive yet the HD quality of the guy sitting on the beach blew me away.

Nevermind. I thought it was a guy until half way through the show they had the video of the girl dancing. Forgot about that.

Also I loved the visuals for Welcome to the Machine. Probably my favorite part of the show.

Yeah, it was unbelievably amazing. I'd never really liked the idea of naming a favourite band but that concert solidified it for me. Since the visuals took up a full 180° head swivel I was instantly lost in it all, especially with Set the Controls and One of These Days so early. I also saw The Wall in 2010 and while it was fantastic, I share your view on its lower standing as a prime album. Never thought I'd have the chance to see Animals or WttM live, let alone be close enough to see Waters' fingers on the bass or his smile or Kilminster's solos. I totally cried when the duo from Lucius traded during Great Gig, during Shine, and while I was under the giant laser pyramid during Eclipse. I just got back from another music festival and feeling the post-festival blues; actively recalling this is kicking it overdrive haha

Looks like you had a similar setlist (https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/roger-waters/2017/nationwide-arena-columbus-oh-6be5b252.html). Glad you enjoyed it man!

Meddle is my 4th favorite PF album, but I consider those four their "Prime" because they were/are the most popular and well known.

Both of these.

Have you guys checked out the Early Years 1965-1972 set? A local HMV was closing out so I picked it up on a decent discount. It's fucking amazing and I def recommend if you dig pre-DSotM.

I've seen it, and it looks cool, but damn is it expensive. I do dig the Syd years, Piper is cool, so is ASoS, but they really shine once Waters took over the songwriting, imo.

What'd you pay for it, if you don't mind?

The Early Years isn't an album collection, it's a/v demos, behind-the-scenes, music videos, live performances, interviews, previously unreleased, etc. Five 7" single vinyl replicas and replica tickets, playbills, posters, etc. Six volumes split into years, each volume has 2 cds, a BD/DVD, and more replica stuff. There are a couple quad mixes, and 5.1 of Meddle & Obscured.

I can agree on ER. I kinda dig it's melancholic retrospective feel but yeah.

I think it came to $475 CDN taxes in. Still super pricey but I figured I'd never see it that cheap again.

damn, that's not cheap. it's nice to spoil yourself on things you really want, though, so congrats for picking it up. i splurge on Grateful Dead box sets, the amount i've spent on those over the years is kind of obscene.

anyway, thoughts on the set? have you gone through and listened to the entire thing yet? i think the first 'era' might not do a whole lot for me, as PatGoD is near the bottom of my favorites, but the rest of it looked pretty interesting. i'm especially interested in the 5.1 mixes of OBC and Meddle.

i have all three of the Immersion box sets from PF and while the music is fantastic (those 5.1 mixes of DSotM and WYWH, my goodness), I find the other contents of the box, like the memorabilia, don't do a lot other than sit in the box. i'm torn because if a box set has no extras it feels lacking but then when it does have extras i don't do anything with them other than let them sit in the box.
