You can't deny that.

Plenty of great filmmakers have gone down wrong paths, like Francis Ford Coppola for instance.

But those first few movies he directed were amazing. Sixth Sense was fucking gorgeous

It was his saving grace that's for sure

No other title of his will come close. I was shocked when I learned he was the director (This is after I watched the happening and signs, so I went backwards)

Signs was just as perfect as Sixth Sense. Only reason people hate it is because people get so pissy whenever religion comes up.

And Unbreakable was classic as well but I'll admit it's not for people with low attention spans

I don't care about religion being brought up. I care about the fact that an alien race is allergic to water and comes to our water planet

Actually, even his early movies were hit or miss. The real problem was that he was always formulaic and weak, which was exposed with the more he did.

He's had a few decent movies, but they're few and far between.

Yes, the fact that a race capable of intergalactic travel would come to a planet where 70% of the surface area is water is a little bizarre. They also skip over why the water vapor that is part of our atmosphere somehow doesn't affect them.

Columbus wanted to go to India and ended up in South America. Shit happens, even more so during intergalactic travel where there's many more variables.

lol.

I saw Sixth Sense in the theater before anyone was talking about it.
I thought it was a hellova twist with a kind of weak pay off for the kid.
Then I started thinking about it and not only realized how it was telegraphed but was really a weak plot. The more I thought about it the more I hated it.

Even if the plot was weak (iyo) the acting and music was phenomenal

It wasn't just the twist that made it great lol

It's never the twist that makes it great.

In fact I almost want to tell people the twist before they watch The Village, because at almost better when you know the twist

Unbreakable pretty much sucked, with a lot of it just feeling silly. Has nothing to do with attn spans, although the terrible pacing did hurt it and the twist trivialized it -- especially because of how the ending was handled with the arrest, etc, occurring after the film and being described

Probably my fave thing he did.

Problem with all his films. You just increasingly start looking for a twist. The Village I got the twist right immediately. The one plus for the Sixth Sense for me is that I missed the beginning which gives it away.

The best achievement of his career was being mentioned in it's always sunny in Philadelphia.

Any cred he gets is from being mentioned in that show.

Then again it's always sunny is bigger and better than everything shamalan Coppola and Cameron ever made combined.

I deny it. I found sixth sense and unbreakable boring until the reveals. Signs was good, but totally ruined by having the worst ending ever.

Given that Always Sunny is watched by fewer people than those who actually saw his films, that's doubtful.
