I enjoyed it for what it was. It feels a bit weird to go back to the MvC2 control scheme. I liked what little I played of it though, but there's nothing you can do that's substantial in the way of playing it and learning characters since the fights are short and it's the same storymode battles.

But all of the videos of the basics video that Combofiend made and other combo videos popping up here and there gives me high hopes! Feels like a really solid game at the very least.

being able to play as Mega Man X and have all these cool projectile options is so satisfying

It's a terrible demo. You're stuck in story mode so it's constantly changing your characters for you after each quick fight so there's no chance to get the hang of any of these characters. By the time I try out all the moves for one character the fight is over and I'm on to two new characters.

As to the game itself, going back to MvC2 buttons is terrible. Medium attacks are important and getting rid of them is lame. Not having a universal launcher command is lame. Dedicated punches and kicks in a game where tons of characters neither punch nor kick is lame.

Meter seems to build very slowly for a Marvel game, although I understand the real game will use a 2-out-of-3 rounds structure instead of the single rounds in these fights so maybe you'll have more time to build meter? Still don't like it. Down down instead of DP motions is bad; auto-correcting uppercuts is gonna make it really hard to jump over anyone with moves like that. I'm also not feeling 90% of the cast being recycled from UMvC3. Chris is the worst, why are we still getting Chris in RE5 mode? That game is over 8 years old!

As far as I can tell, universal launcher is D+HP.

But yeah, I do have similar complaints about the system. I feel like meter will build better in actual play. I could never get enough to check out 3 Hyper Meter moves. Down Down motions also kind of screw me up a bit. I'd prefer DP motions, frankly, but I can kind of understand why they're changing it to Down Down for simplicity sake. I feel like it's something that won't be bad once we get used to it.

But with 90% of the cast being recycled, I'm okay with it. They need to do this because it's cheap. But they all have more moves and feel a bit different, enough that I'm not going to pitch a fit over it.

Is it true Sonic Slicer doesn't bounce off walls? What's even the point of having it as a move then?

Well, that's why it's called a "Story Mode Demo" and not just a regular demo. >_>

Sonic Slicer works like a boomerang. It goes so far (I think depending on LP or HP) and then swings back. Probably works pretty well if you shoot it and hit a combo.
