How much effort they put into looking at women.

Literally walking down the street looking at every woman and going:

Hm, is she hot?
How about her?
Or her?

I'm like who cares. It's a woman, same as any other woman. All you're doing is fueling your libido.

Don't think for a second there aren't women who do the same. Not just with the opposite sex either, women are always comparing each other.

I wish more men were like this.

More days than not, I get catcalled when I'm going on my run. The thing is, I'm not even dressed in skimpy clothes, I'm sweating, and my hair is a wreck.

You'd be astounded how many men are attracted by that.

I agree. Or the people who cat-call. I've never asked my friend to validate my opinions on attractive women in public.

Also, I've never talked to a stranger just to tell her she's beautiful. I may make a joke or strike up a conversation but even that's rare. Most people don't want to be bothered. You just notice them, and then go on with your day.

right, but you're thin and have well-defined facial features

over one third of adults are obese and over half are overweight

like it or not you're hot at your worst simply by process of elimination

what's the big deal about women? they literally only have 3 holes and out of those 3 holes, 2 of those holes are fucked (one full of sharp bones that are used to crush whatever goes in there, the other is full of poop).

idk how people on here whine about how Pokemon games are the same each year, yet they will have sex with that same 1 hole every single time, and are willing to bend over backwards just to achieve this. all sex is is 3 pumps into that 1 hole and then it's nap time. LAME

I have a younger friend (20) who's married, yet constantly talks about wanting to fuck random women he comes across on the street and in stores. Whenever I witness him doing this, I think to myself "was I like that at that age?"

The answer is probably yes. But now, I feel nothing when I see women dressed in skimpy clothing and all that. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

You're being absurd. Telling someone they have pretty eyes is not a sexual pass. It's being friendly.

Eh, it's not something that's typically said just out of friendliness. At least with guys, the majority of the time when a guy says it he wants in the pants.

That's a really boring view of the world. Like you're seeing all of humanity as generic gray blobs with labels denoting sex.

I'm not defending the people you saw. But there's a fun balance to be found between "Dat Ass" and "Robot". Tons of beautiful, or stylish, or cute, or rad, looking people in this world. While most people on a normal day don't put too much attention into appearance, how we appear is an expression. And, to a degree, there's nothing wrong with admiring those expressions if there's no harassment involved.

The fact that this tame example was the first one you went with pretty much proves my point. There are some women who will catcall a guy, and when you get a group of women together sometimes they'll talk about the men they find sexiest...but overall they're nowhere near men's level.

Emphasizing I'm not addressing the men's behavior in the OP, but your ambivalence to people's appearance:

It really doesn't take much energy at all. You see someone whose appearance affects you in some way, you notice, and you move on with your life. Stepping away from the "beautiful" argument, I was walking to a Barnes and Noble a few moths ago. Standing on the side of the building was this woman. Young, maybe late twenties. Natural red hair, pale skin. Thin, sharp features. Wearing a red top, with a black jacket and jeans. Casually propped against the building smoking a cigarette and checking her phone.

I thought she looked cool as hell. To the point where I still have some memory of her to relay to you. This impact didn't take any energy. I saw someone who I thought looked cool, noticed, and continued into the bookstore. Didn't need to say a word, didn't address the woman or try to get her attention. Just went on about my day.

To be fair, every "Sexual Harassment Training" video I've ever been shown in work orientation has presented almost any and all remarks about outward appearance as uncomfortable and offensive.

Though I think the one I'm thinking of (and have seen at least three or four times in the last ten years across different jobs) might have been filmed in the early nineties. Standards could have changed since then. <_<

What aspects of someone's body and physical appearance are okay to comment on and which ones are off limits? I would certainly never tell a female coworker or client that they have pretty eyes, and there's a small chance that it would get reported if I did.

You could do this, provided you asked the person out first, and they said yes. It's about context. If someone agrees to go on an outing with you then you can be less formal, and might even be able to flirt a bit if you feel that flirtation might be appreciated. The office is not the place for that though. Do that on your own time.
