"From Sony's Marvel Universe" ... is it really the MCU? Because I heard Sony was just making this without any input from Marvel Studios which would make it non-MCU and just Sony's Spider-verse.

I dunno, I assumed that the deal they made over Homecoming would be across the board for Marvel IPs moving forward. Maybe I'm wrong.

Sony is going forward with imput from Marvel as far as I know because they know they can't make decent movies and marvel can add their characters into it.

As far as I have heard the deal is Spider-Man gets to crossover into some MCU movies and some MCU characters get to crossover into his movies. Marvel Studios foots the entire bill for their movies and doesn't share any profits with Sony. Sony foots the entire bill for their movies and doesn't share any profits with Marvel Studios.

To this end Tom Holland was signed on for a five or six movie deal. A portion of the movies are with Marvel Studios and the others with Sony. For these crossover movies, I think Marvel Studios has a lot of creative control because it is their established universe. But after these films, if one side isn't interested anymore, they may split away from each other and not interact anymore. And then Sony will have complete control over the new Spider-Man. And if Sony makes any movies outside of these films, such as Venom, it is entirely under their creative control with no deal in place for MCU characters to appear or them to ever appear in MCU films.
