In the case of the former, you must learn to steel yourself. You must learn to know your own value and not base your worth on others' opinions. The issue you're going through (unless you're met with physical harm or threats) is mental. You shouldn't absorb these comments and let them roll off your skin. That's life and we all must deal with it; the difference is HOW you deal with such people that determine your stress levels and ultimately your happiness and contentment levels.
