A Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado has EUTHANIZED all of its exotic and ENDANGERED animals after a relocation dispute!!

The Lion's Gate Sanctuary put down all 3 of its tigers and 5 bears on April 20th after a local county commissioner denied their request to move 20 miles as Sanctuary owner and psychologist Dr Joan Laub said she had "no other option" as their current location always flooded in the past 2 years making it impossible to care for them..

The county commissioners were "shocked" and "saddned" by it and said the owners promised to continue to care for them at the centre if their proposal was turned down..

They said "The decision by the operators of Lion's Gate to euthanize all their animals comes as a total surprise. Only 2 weeks earlier, the operators of the facility assured the County in a public forum that if the application was denied, they would continue to operate at their current location as they had for previous 10 years"

But Joan denies that and said "We want to be clear we did not put our animals down because we were denied by the Elbert County Commissioners. We put our animals down beause it was NO LONGER SAFE FOR THEM AND NO LONGER SAFE FOR THE PUBLIC. This was made abundantly clear. The commissioners were not concerned with the safety of residents around the Sanctuary, only the residents at the re-location site"

The nearby Keenesburg Wildlife Sanctuary that is home to 450 animals would have offered to take them in..Pat Craig said they had so few animals that they could have easily placed every animal with another sanctuary adding it was a surprise they didn't try.

But Joan argued she couldn't move the 11 wild endangered animals cause they were old and vulnerable as it's not clear why she believed that..

The Colorado Parks and Wildlife were notified of the mass euthanasia which its purpose was to rescue and protect exotic animals but said they were WITHIN THEIR RIGHT to kill them..

This sparked outrage that questioned the sanctuary set up t care for animals and the justification to kill the but Joan remained defiant and said they had no choice and they had to do what was best for the people in the area and that they shouldn't be fooled into thinking they had options..
