A poll released yesterday show that five of the eight parties which hold seats in our national Parliament, Riksdagen, are in a slump. The Conservatives have soon lost half their support since 2010 (they got 30% then) and the Greens look toast as fuck cuz you need 4% to enter/stay in Riksdagen. Next year is election year and the Socialdemocrats, the Nationalists and the Neoliberals are the ones who can breathe easy right now. A common thread amongst those 3 parties is that they have been clear with what they want. Many of the other parties don't got a cohesive strategy in place at the moment.

28.3% - Socialdemocrats
21.2% - Nationalists
16.8% - Conservatives
12.5% - Neoliberals (almost a double increase since 2014)
6.7% - Far Left
4.6% - Christian Democrats
4.4% - Liberals
2.5% - Greens
3% - "Others"

The smaller parties fill a role though since the bigger ones aren't large enough to rule alone so they help maintain willingness to compromise and work together across party lines.

You put an asterisk in the title, but didn't explain it. This is causing me so much anxiety.

I shall write to our politicians right away and tell them they are doing it wrong >:(

Guess I could made a more clear mark in the topic itself. Sorry ^_^;;

The asterisk refer to the 8 parties which hold seats in our national Parliament. Some parties are too small to get in.

I don't really like that the Greens are so low, but on the other hand they really deserve it. They've completely strayed from their main point, and I won't ever vote for Gustav Fridolin. That guy is a scumbag. My gf's friend works in the Riksdag as a clerk, and apparently he's notorious for being a slimy man who doesn't live up to his party's "feminism" at all.

What a sleazeball!

And what to hope for now regarding the Greens: that they do get kicked out of Parliament and come back reorganized and focused on their key issue - the environment.

I feel like the Liberals and KD could benefit from having to reboot too.

KD need to just disappear, honestly. Their fringe doesn't belong in Swedish politics. I'd rather have FI with a couple 5-7% than KD. I don't trust their extremely left-wing politics, but to have them in parliament would be nice still, because the perspective that they bring in is fresh and nice. And having both them and V would be also nice, the healthcare sector needs love that the other parties won't give.

I do agree about KD if I'm gonna be honest. I don't want F! in Riksdagen though because I think they seem like loonytoons. I'd rather have the Far Left grow a little than have F! enter.

Not big changes, but more informed agendas will be interesting, now that they have a budget to actually afford investigating. It'll be a bit more grounded in reality.

Will their leadership be interested in actually doing investigating though? Or will they simply stick to using opinions as fact? Because that is all I've seen from the party before and after the election so far.

It's easier to talk about what similarities they have because the US got this weird definition of "liberals" which the rest of the world don't share. Liberalism in Sweden refer to Classical Liberalism. You know, strong emphasis on equal rights but also focus on the free market and a small State.

i think the Kaplan affair was a great example of MPs standard priorities and competence these days, and i did not like it.
MP, in my mind has stopped being about the environment a long time ago and just became about embracing immigration completely, and in doing so, purposefully ignoring any issues that could come with it.

FI has the same problems, btw. but i never took them seriously to begin with, and i highly doubt they're gonna get even close to the line next election.

i haven't been paying enough attention to KD to know what they're even on about. what exactly is their "fringe" that doesn't belong?

Yes, they will. I would guess it's rather a case of hiding bad results instead of ignoring them.

Umm. They're Christian in a secular country that believes in separation of church and state. They're entertaining anti-abortion thoughts, they were the reason the Alliance didn't abolish sterilization of transgender people earlier. Religion has no place in government.
