Do you think it was fair to fire him?

88 y/o Bob Tallinger from Wisconsin, a Walmart Greeter was FIRED after he failed to stop a wild turkey from entering the store!!

He was working when the turkey waltzed on in and failed to stop it

He said "It starts and it goes back around and then it walks out.". The turkey was eventually caught by a Humane Animal Welfare society official

He worked as a greeter at the store for 8 YEARS and received his termination notice last week as the supervisors said he should have alerted a manager to the bird's presence

His wife, Jnet said "He never saw a book of rules that said if a wild turkey comes in here you better run and get management. Granted he's gotten older and granted he's lost a little memory but nevertheless that hasn't prevented him from being an excellent greeter"

The turkey was unharmed and a Walmart spokesperson confirmed Bob's termination..

Do you think it was fair to fire Bob? let's see what people think

Bob - Fired

A lot of old people get that old by staying active. He'll find something better, Bob didn't need those assholes anyway.

Duckbear wouldn't do that.

Then his source is missing part of the story. This is quite a old and shut case of a supervisor/manager being a jerk that I don't want to believe it's that it's that simple.

So Wal-mart management is okay with the various other beasts that wander in and shop there, but a fucking turkey is where they draw the line, lol.

I don't understand what they wanted him to do. Tackle it? If he goes to find a manager, by the time they get there it'll probably be long gone. Also, I feel it's important to remember IT'S A TURKEY. It's borderline harmless. I've seen them in our family's yard. They run away from you 99% of the time.

I hope this blows up in their face and they give the guy his job back.

Why would he not get written up or warned first? This is a pretty dumb as hell reason to fire someone, unless Bob had several strikes against him in the first place. I don't really see that being the case though....

That's kind of how I feel. Yeah he probably should have alerted management that a fucking Wild Turkey was in the building but firing him over not doing it seems excessive.

BINGO

When I was working through college at Wal*Mart there was one this older man who was a cart pusher who was starting to have early on-set Alzheimer's and were looking for a reason to get rid of him. One day he lost his idea card and couldn't punch out for his meal break, asked a manager they said no problem, I'll just manually check you in and out on the computer. Well the manager never did, the old man got fired for a meal exception, and management played dumb.
