Not at all a bad thing if true. LOL them in the handheld market anyway. Anything on the PS3 can be absorbed by Microsoft. They make great cameras, but no better than Nikon or Canon. They make great TV's, but they are outstripped by Samsung, and Panasonic Plasma absolutely blows them out of the water. Their Car Audio equipment is worse than JVC. They do make really good laptops, but it is not like the Vaio is the only game in town, and there are tons of Desktops that destroy Sony Desktop.


Finally, with the exception of their car audio, and most of their computers, all their products are anywhere from 15-18 marked up in price just because of their name.

So yeah, we don't actually lose ANYTHING if we lose Sony.

Well one thing that will help is that the expenses for making the new Spider-man, Men in Black, and James Bond movies are in that annual report while the profits will be in the next one.

Won't make up for 5.7 billion but it's a start.

Assuming no one else is dumb enough to enter the gaming market. The only thing of actual "value" Sony would have would be the Bravia Engine for TV's, and the Vaio name for computers. Some would argue the "Alpha" for their DSLR's, but they would be wrong, as Sony DSLR's are not even close to Canon or Nikon.

only reason 360 caught any ground this gen was because of how expensive ps3 started off. and nintendo's off doing its own thing as usual.

SCE isn't really the money loser here. Almost all of their loses came from s***ty music sales, box office flops, and their terrible TV business.

SCE is actually one of the places that isn't causing them to bleed money.

Most of the money lost are tax credits that they can't claim due to how they've performed lately. It's still a big loss, but the actual losses are much smaller.

The PS3 was also the best-selling system worldwide last year. Good show for SCE.

Also, if Sony were on the verge of bankruptcy they would sell a lot of their valuable assets and shrink down to a few core areas--gaming, digital imaging, movies--and continue from there. It's going to take some time, but they have a good guy leading the way now.

That's because Sony doesn't rely all of their income on freaking video games. It has a ton more sectors than Nintendo where it can fluctuate and earn money back.

The only worthwhile property they have is their movie franchises, and the good ones will be picked up by better companies. Again, no loss if they die.

If I ever get a new system, it'll probably be a PS2. Wii has been a big disappointment and I have no internet in staying at all current gen because its too expensive.

I'm ignoring the other two arguments because they're so dumb. There's absolutely no reason to dismiss three entire consoles with a huge library of diverse, well-received games as "garbage." Even if you couldn't find a single appealing reason to enjoy a Playstation 1, 2, or 3, it's laughable that you assume your preferences apply to everyone. Even more laughable is that you're dismissing a television line with over 50 models as "overpriced." Every single TV they make: overpriced. There are legitimate problems with their television line - starting with the fact that there are over 50 models - but to casually dismiss every model they have because they're overpriced and thus the company should no longer exist is dumb.

So, yes, I ignored those two silly arguments and went back to your original silly argument: you made a bad purchasing decision - not Sony's fault - and so Sony should die.
