Without having seen the original show, I could feel that the movies obviously condensed things. There characters and plots that either came out of nowhere or left suddenly and sometimes awkwardly. But overall they were good. I don't know why I thought every Gundam series besides G was bad and melodramatic, but I'm happy to be wrong. I can't wait to watch Zeta! To think I started watching these just to get more appreciation out of DWG3 and now I don't want to play that because I get some story spoiled. >_>

I'm glad you approved. I'm of the opinion that the movie trilogy is superior, personally; it cut out a lot of the less-than-stellar elements of the series and actually managed to expand the final battle significantly with new animation sequences. Either way it's a good viewing though!
Zeta is terrific. Be prepared to be amazed.

I finished the movies for the first time the other day too. They did a good job with editing. I felt they captured the most important moments just right. I mean "THIS AIN'T NO ZAKU BOY. NO ZAKU" ends the first movie >_> you can't ask for more than that.
Gundam is awesome, i am currrently watching UC in chronological order, finally on ZZ Gundam which is.....rather silly but getting better now that im like halfway

ZZ gets a lot better at the midway point. Before that I have no qualms with calling it the worst series I've seen. It finally pulls itself together and gets pretty alright later on though.

ZZ comes after zeta and technicall three spinoff series (08th team, war inthe pocket and stardust memory) occur between the trilogy and ZETA and the IGLOO ovas come before the trilogy
that said, if you want the "main saga what you have plus ZZ is right.

08th MS Team technically occurs during the original series/trilogy.

That stuff right there is the classic topnotch Gundam, oh hell yes. And yeah, I decided to skip ZZ after watching some of it, but other than that UC is all topnotch in my book.

yeah, the melodrama is played way too high for Seed and anything directly related to it. everything else, apart from G, is either some weird mix, G Gundam, has next to none of it, or is one of those where everyone dies. though the last one tends to involve drama because, well, death runs like water in a river.

Oh and obviously this guy is Char, but they go so over the top with it that I almost expect him NOT to be Char. Especially his with that remark "Oh ya know a lowly ol pilot like me cant resist mentioning the great Char the Red Comet since hes so great and im just your average joe yep nothin special about me at all unlike Char"

I've seen enough gundam by now to know that if two people are talking to each other, there's a good chance one or both of them are going to get slapped in that same scene.

this is also simuntaneously the best piece of propaganda you'll get saying 'watch this gundam show' or 'you might want to avoid this one unless you can deal with this level of crazy.'
there's no in betwene.
