Special Topics course: SCI & PSEUDOSCIENCE IN PSY 3

In this course you will examine the research on such strange phenomena as psychics, out of body experiences, extrasensory perception, astrology, the lunar effect, voodoo, mind reading, sleep-assisted learning, flying saucers, subliminal perception and persuasion, new age therapies, alien abduction reports, witchcraft, palmistry, and other extraordinary claims. You will not only explore the scientific bases for such claims but also why people persist in believing those claims that lack scientific credibility and how some of these experiences can be explained in terms of normal psychological processes.
