I started playing this game, with the unofficial patch and everything. But the screen resolution is all WHACK. With it's this weird letterboxing where half the screen is black, or it's widescreen but all of UI and options stuff is weird and it's impossible to aim guns. What do I do??

I had the same problem with the Steam version of KOTOR. Messing with the resolution fixed it

But I can only pick two resloutions and they're both bad. Unless you mean messing with the PC's resolution.

Well googling it brought to a couple different places talking about a resolution patcher, including a gamefaqs topic. But the patcher did nothing for me. Here's what the two resolutions look for me:
