I remember trying to play this game a really, really long time ago. Everything about it seems stupid and right up my alley, but I gave up on it really early because of the terrible controls.

A decade and a half later I'm giving it another shot...

The controls arent terrible, they're great. They're just not what you expect from this kinda game.

Yeah the tank controls will scare off most players in a friggin action beat em up game. But it seriously works well. Tank controls get too much shit.

Eh. I'm having fun with it, but I'm fighting the controls almost as much as the npcs. Also, is there really no lock-in?

Controls are fine, there's no outright lock on button but he does adjust toward the enemy you're closest to. You can press the roulette button and instantly cancel it to snap toward something too.

I got my shit pushed in 10+ times doing the very first challenge from the fairy thing.

Felt so good when I finally beat it.

oh yeah and one thing to keep in mind is the free moves Gene has. Im sure youve discovered the dash attacks by now, but there are two really useful and cool moves you can do when you juggle an enemy in the air.
one is back + triangle for a dragon punch
and forward + triangle for a jumping roundhouse kick that launches enemies, really useful if youre surrounded.
theres more but i found these to be the most useful.

i heard from a couple people that this game was really cool. i tried it for like 15 minutes and could NOT get into it. like, at all.

Yeah, I've been using a bunch of those. The dashing square is attack is so useful, both engaging and running away.

I think it's cool, but the controls just take some getting used to. It's like Mad World but tankier.

Also, any tips on fighting those demon assholes? When I get done fighting one, I have, like 1/3rd health left.

You gotta adjust to the controls to get good at it. Again it's weird but when you get the hsng of it, it all comes together and you get why it's the way it is.

All I know is I'm determined to git gud at this game.

I beat the first major boss. I'm much further than when I last played.

I've been watching some guy on YouTube that plays this game religiously to give me some tips. Dude is fucking supernatural. He's doing shit I can't even comprehend.

Yeah, that guy! He is next fucking level. I'm trying to at least copy the basic crowd control stuff he likes doing.

The demons are actually fucking garbage and they sort of bring down the game's fun factor for me.

Who ever decided to put them in the game can kiss the smoothest part of my ass.

agree, its what stops me from playing this game. I've had this disc for years, and tried to play it again a few months ago.

I'm at a part where I had to go through this maze and fight a bunch of people along the way. I had, maybe 1/3 of health through the whole thing.
I make it to the end. Like, literally, the exit to the next area is just right there. Only problem is there are three more people waiting to fight you and one of them is one of the tougher, elite enemies. I manage to take them out and defeat the last elite guy with just a silver of health left.

Lo and behold, out pops a demon right here at the end of the stage after beating literally the last fucking guy.
I came so close to throwing my controller. That's such fucking dog shit.

The Bouncer is also a good game, and it's very hard but not as hard as God Hand.

I had this game a long, long time ago. It was so stupid/bad that I ended up enjoying it in an ironic way.

Funny enough, last year my roommate and I was looking for PS2 games at these old school game shop. We found the bouncer and convinced him to play it. He absolutely hated it lmao
