Used to be when I was younger. I think I got jaded and lost "faith" in stuff like that. I still think aliens have to exist but I don't consider that paranormal.

When I was younger I believed in everything. I used to listen to Art Bell on the radio and watched ghost hunter shows unironically.

No because many of the paranormal claims are unfalsifiable. So it's best to conclude to not believe in things that don't have evidence to back it up.

Yes but ultimately I think that which might be considered paranormal to us today may be explainable in the future. We like to think of ourselves as gods in the world who have everything pretty much figured out but the reality we know very very little.

I will always tell this story when the subject comes up.

I was in an uber, and the driver suddenly pulls over saying he "needs a minute." We were at a traffic light. He points to a building across the street and tells me he can sense a lot of spirits inside and it was "too overwhelming" for him. I was freaked the fuck out of course; but, he also looked visibly distressed, like he had a hard time catching his breath. After about a minute or so, he apologized and drove off but still seemed off until I got home.

Yeah, I do think that some people have a special sense into the paranormal that most of us just can't understand. Probably too rare to be well defined.

I've had actual poltergeist experiences at an old apartment I lived in in the early 2010's. Loud sounds coming from other rooms but when I go to investigate, literally nothing had moved or happened. A couple of times the sounds came from my closet or my bathroom. But the main one is one time I had a friend over in my living room chatting and it happened in my kitchen and both of us distinctly heard a huge banging sound...only to find nothing had happened physically to the eye when we looked around literally moments after we had heard the banging sound. That in particular was eerie, especially because my friend told me he thought my place was haunted without me even trying to play it up.

I did when I was a kid. As an adult I used to watch those ghost hunter reality shows just for the lulz.

The only "paranormal" thing that I've experienced was an old flashlight (lantern style) that had been sitting on a shelf for years never used and never touched one day just suddenly turned on for like 5 seconds and then turned off. It happened shortly after my uncle died. The flashlight belonged to my grandfather.

My mom was in the room at the time too and she saw it. We both looked at each other with "???" looks on our faces. My only guess was it was turned on and the battery somehow squeezed out some more juice just at that moment. Who knows?

Am I a believer in the paranormal? Nope.

Maybe I had this extra sense as a child. I chalked it up to hallucination tho

I saw a ghost shape-shifting into my mom (still alive btw) and into winnie the pooh. Two separate days iirc. The mom ghost beckoned me to the foot of the bed before disappearing. The pooh ghost floated and shook its fur and disappeared. Both incidents occurred in my room

Maybe just a lonely ghost . Never saw them again. Well we moved out of that place eventually. Maybe just a few months later maybe a few years. My sense of time is off for older memories.

I believe that there are things that as yet have to be explained by the rules and laws that we know.

Not to say that the paranormal cannot be explained, just that we don't know how to, yet.

Thus, spirituality and whatnot - I cannot conclusively disprove the existence of gods, spirits, demons, whatnot. Not in every circumstance, at least. But I doubt that if they exist they're anything like the common depictions of such

Used to be, but not for many years. I still find it entertaining and interesting, but I have yet to see anything convincing. I enjoy "ghost hunting" in spooky places said to be haunted; it's a fun activity and I'm always open to something changing my mind. That something would have to be undeniable, though, and any "phenomena" that's out there so far has possible explanations - however unlikely - that are still more likely than it being the disembodied spirit of a dead person (because that's always the least likely explanation of all).

Yes, to a degree, like an inverse Pascal's Wager. I think that trying (beyond goofy, uneducated, teenage shenanigans) to summon entities, speak to them, invoke curses or rituals, etc is foolish for a number of reason. But my primary one being... what if you're right? Do you know how turbofucked you'd be if something out of the Goetia was real?

From pissing on gravestones to burning human hair to scorn an ex and everything inbetween I think at best they're signs of serious mental trauma and flights of fantasy/disassociation, at worst yep you just summoned Balam. Have fun.

No. Every paranormal sighting can be explained away with a confused, unreliable, or lying witness.

Also, note that about 99% of the western population has a camera on them at all times nowadays, and yet we havent seen an absolute explosion of documented ghost sightings over the past twenty years? Gee, I wonder why?

Well like with the UFO thing. No one can explain a lot of the UFO sightings right now. Videos of strange lights and objects moving in ways that we think are impossible. We cannot explain how these objects are moving like they are, or even if they're real, but at some point we will.

I have a relevant video. This is me describing ectoplasm on my door about 6-7 years ago. I was living in an airforce dorm at the time. I was also around 21-22 years old when I recorded this.

I didn't refer to the shape as ectoplasm but looking back it def was that. I'm dead serious!!!!!!!!!

also for some context. I was about 3 weeks into my runescape grind. Like playing 12-19 hours a day. I took a month leave off work to play. You can even see the osrs login screen on my monitor lmfao.

i was dehydrated af and barely eating.
that's why i look emaciated.

i almost choked on a brisket a few days later because i had gone like a day without eating and i vommited all over my friend's car

Okay so I bit into it hook, line, and sinker from 2019 until last year. There... aren't aliens, man. I'm sorry. What is happening, has happened, and will continue to happen is R&D black book / skunkworks getting shaken up by budgetary saber rattling because they take unimaginable amounts of wealth into creating ridiculous shit. They always have. It's just that our technology under the whiteout is catching up to what people think aliens can do.

DoD has talked about Roswell in length, they were very special radar balloons basically set to match nuclear detonation frequencies. It plopped down on a farm.

Innumerable reports are the SU-71. Look at that fucking thing in google and then check out the production date and imagine what we have now. Its successor, some abominable sci-fi nightmare called the SR-72 is suspected to be behind many high altitude UFO sightings, as well.

With my stance and logic, the only eyebrow raiser was the whistleblowing. But legally those didn't amount of anything, he's also not dead, and he has produced no evidence for years and his story has "adjusted" too many times due to "clearance" changes.

yeah. too many inexplicable things have happened in my life to not think it.

so first, in the home where I grew up, I'd always think there was a man standing in one of the rooms. My parents just told me he was my invisible friend, and left it at that.
A few years later when my brother was around 4-5 years old? Would say the same thing, that there was a man standing in that same room.
I never saw the man move, he'd just stand still in one corner, same with what my brother said. I never told my brother about it, and he was a newborn baby when I was still seeing him (I saw him in that room every day from age 5 thru age 8)
Then, my entire family was at my parents house one christmas...and what does my young cousin see? A "stranger in the room" and he refused to go in.
I moved back to my parents a few years ago, and my cat refuses to go in that room. Any other room in the house? fair game. if a door is closed? he tries to get in and sticks his paws under the door crack, but not with this room.

Turns out the previous owners husband passed away in that room a few years before my parents bought the house, they didn't tell me when I was younger because they didn't want me to freak out.

See for me lately It's the stuff surrounding my friends passing that allowed me to believe in ghosts. The issue I have is I don't believe in heaven or hell, or Gods for that matter. There is no way for me to explain what I heard. I have heard bells where there should be none. I have also heard my name called out in her voice I was thinking my self in a hole. It brought me out of that sort of thinking.

The only other instance was when I was staying with her. I put a load in the wash and then the dryer. I put it on the bed to fold. She called me from the other side of the house. I might have been there 30 mins talking to her. I went back to start folding but it was already done. I stood there dumbfaced on how. Theories I read were Kolbolds. I said lol, but it made a bit of sense being a farm. So as a precaution I put out some milk. Just a bit was gone and my cat doesn't like milk. O_o

No.

The universe has a specific way that it works and nothing can defy that. No, humans don't have it fully figured out yet, but there's still specifics about how it works regardless of our understanding of it. Paranormal stuff seems to contradict how the universe works; not contradicting our knowledge of it but however it works regardless of our knowledge. Further, the paranormal tends to defy basic common sense or rational thought.

Ghosts, for example, make no sense. There's no consistency with them, and excuses for how they work apply to specific scenarios but not to others. Explanation for how they work is basically whatever is convenient at the time.

Why do only humans have ghosts? If you believe ghosts are souls, they're now based on religious notions, but if they're souls then why do they defy God's authority? According to Christianity, my soul goes to heaven or hell. If you believe in ghosts, there's a third option. I can ignore God and just hang out here on Earth.

if ghosts aren't souls but have a scientific background, why are humans the only animals that have them? On very rare occasion there's sightings of animal ghosts, but if animals can be ghosts then why don't 99.999999999% of them become ghosts? Animals grossly outnumber humans but ghosts are virtually exclusively human. Where's the dinosaur ghosts?

Earth rotates at over a thousand miles per hour. It revolves around the sun at 67,000 MPH. We rotate around the galactic center at 448,000 MPH. What are ghosts made of such that they're gravitationally bound to Earth but otherwise ignore all laws of physics? If they can pass through walls or closed doors, why don't they fall through the floor or ground?

Do my clothes die and become ghosts? Ghosts have ghost clothing, so do my pants die with me or is there an afterlife clothing store?

Why are some ghosts how they appeared at the end of life but others appear as when younger? Will my ghost be an old man ghost or will my ghost look like when I was younger? Both are evidently optional.

---

This sort of stuff makes me want to believe, because I've had stuff like that happen, and so have people I know (with multiple people experiencing the same thing).
