This is honestly genocidal rhetoric coming from the Governor of Texas and an abuse of power

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/4/4b2f9926.jpg

The discussion centers around teachers but the context speaks more broadly to not allowing this to be normalized or acceptable, stating, this is the type of behavior that we wanna make sure we end in the state of Texas.

School policy is used as a wedge used to force open a door for further measures, and he is openly stating the goal is to eventually just end this behavior from existing in the state.

first its creating a greater perception in the public, normalizing that this isnt something socially acceptable around children or schools with (adult teachers, staff, etc) to be transgender or gender nonconforming (GNC.)

Thats a hop skip away from saying not at work or other public places period, essentially forcing trans and GNC people out of the public with these escalating attacks. It began with children, where Texas made it illegal for medical providers to give gender affirming care to minors the past few years.

Agreed.

This is very similar to cochlear implant debates in the deaf community or conversations around the discovery of Down Syndrome in prenatal screenings. For example, I have epilepsy and there's an argument that people who have epilepsy/down syndrome/deafness at birth should never be born and should not exist in the future. Not because they can't survive in society or modern medicine can't treat them, but because their existence makes things difficult for the powers that be.Of course that puts people living with those conditions currently in a tough spot. They're being told they don't have a future in society.

This is a Eugenics argument I believe. Since COVID, there's been a serious effort to force people who aren't having kids to the edges of society because of our falling birth rate. Trans, GNC and people with permanent disabilities are seen as future burdens to society because they're unlikely to reproduce. The abortion debate plays in to this.

Texas is fucking over a ton of people medically for financial reasons more than anything, make no mistake. It's not really a LGBT issue imo. As bad and dangerous as the rhetoric is around trans-folk, understand that people with disabilities, people who had Medicaid, kids of minorities, kids whose parents don't work, are all on the chopping block in Texas as well as other states with similar values. The aim is to push trans people out of the state so they won't vote in the upcoming election.

Please vote if you live in TX, even if you disagree with me.

Any anti-transgender agenda can screw off, and it makes me sick that people ever feel that way.

For clarification though, from what I see looking up the teacher, he is not actually transgender. It looks like he just enjoys cross dressing and drag. The only reason Im bringing that up is that I think there is a line there, albeit its a blurry one.

In this particular instance though, it also sounds like the teacher only chose to dress up on the appropriate school days designated for dressing up. On top of that, without a specific dress code for staff, it seems like calling out the choices this teacher made is erroneous, and they complied with all rules and regulations for their position.

Any law that could be used against transgender people is a law that should not exist. Being in Texas, I would absolutely not support it. But the quote from Abbott, while it could apply to a transgender individual, is specifically referencing a man dressed as a woman. So the topic title and article are incorrect in fact, but a warning of what could come in principle.

Thank you for sharing regardless, whether blatant or subversive, bigotry should be called out.

Neither the topic title or article are incorrect, however, you are incorrect here. Abbott does not support trans people and considers women who are trans to be a man in a dress. He does not distinguish between trans and GNC behavior, as a conservative politician, and this is an attack on trans rights.

I was also aware the teacher in question is not a woman, and is a man who cross dressed in a specific context for a day other people were dressing up (and he was supported by his students.) It is Abbott who uses this incident to make it seem like something it was not to attack GNC people and trans people (and Libs of TikTok et al.)

I never said he supports them. I even said in multiple ways that he doesnt, and how this attack against a crossdressing teacher could be used against transgender people.

But his quote was still specifically about a non-transgender individual. That makes the article and topic title incorrect. You cant pretend he made genocidal comments he didnt about a group not involved just because you (perhaps accurately) believe he feels that way.

His stance is wrong, his beliefs are wrong, and overall the Texas legislature has done a lot wrong lately. You have the moral high ground as long as you maintain your integrity.

Edit: I dont want to argue this any more either, because Abbott doesnt deserve to be defended. I would like to stick to the facts available, but your posturing is making it a debate against you, which is the last thing I want. Ive said my piece, and Im going to leave it at that.

Gov Abbott appreciates people like you who help enable him with this sort of defense for his genocidal rhetoric, and this applies for other people defending similar rhetoric from other politicians.

Conservatives have clearly been outlining a national plan to enact genocide for years and have been making progress. This is part of that plan and their hateful ideology.

It wont end with trans people either, because they want to go after the whole LGBT+ community, and other minorities as well.
