WCW kept referencing a fictional tournament in Japan taking place to crown the first champ, when in reality it was just Ohtani rematching Benoit from the Super Juniors tournament. Ohtani won, was granted the belt, then lost it to Malenko on worldwide in what was a 6 minute match about a week later then never showed up on WCW Television ever again.
