Literally some of the worst lyrics I've heard in music.

I swear thinking Taylor Swift is hot and talented is a global sarcastic meme that im not in on.

The album is just more of the same. I feel like the last 4 albums shes released is just the same music over and over and its so hard to distinguish one song from the next. Shes a very talented songwriter, she just needs to work with new producers that will push her into doing somethingmore.

Songs are more than just lyrics and its like shes forgotten that over the years. Plus, all of her songs now are SO personal that its hard to relate or connect to them. And hard to get into them if you dont know the Taylor Swift Lore and all her backstory.

I think she's churning out too much at once. Eras, re-releases, four original new albums in four years. she should go quiet for a while and come back with something new.

As a previous Swift apologist, Im genuinely so tired of her and any mediocrity she churns out getting astronomically more attention and acclaim than the thousands of hardworking musicians out there making stuff that actually is fresh and creative

anyway, i generally don't like slow songs, and this has many.

with that said, i find it strange that ppl are bitching about too many songs being released. I don't care if every song isn't a masterpiece. I'd read taylor swift's draft notebooks. it's what she wanted to do, so i try to keep an open mind.

maybe it's not as big of a deal to her either. if you could make songs faster than other people--like a "Steven King" type that doesn't have a problem with productivity, I think you're just naturally okay with releasing less polished material.

artists can do w/e they want: heavily edit and release small amounts, but i'd prefer a greater volume, even if it's rough draft materials.

so anyway, if you wrote 300 songs in 2022-2023, maybe you wouldn't think it was a big deal to release a 30-song album.

well, if it did that would be awesome. if you could perfectly recreate the zeitgeist of 40 years ago in anything i'd be impressed.

anyway the song is synthwave, with more of a 2010-2012 kind of vibe.

synthwave is itself absolutely trying to be 80s music, however you can tell the difference. in general synthwave tends to be nostalgic and depressed in a way that maybe the Cure got into back then, but most didn't.

im not defending the song, im just saying it's about how a new romance (presumably matt healy in this case, but in general) can make you feel like a stupid hormonal idiot, like how you acted in high school.

it's a common theme on the album.

which, by the way, starts with her talking about being a functional alcoholic. there's no attempt to seem like a kid or anything. that's my added context.

What is wrong with the GTA lyric?

You can make any lyricist look bad by picking lines out of context, if that's your intention. Including all the ones you treasure.

The album is far too long, but the lyrics and vocal performance are generally very good.

Does anyone still play GTA? Hasn't been a new one in like 15 years.

I think the online community is still solid and there's a new one coming out in a year or 2.

She's in a position where she can put up minimal effort and will automatically get money.

I never liked her music and have mostly ignored her. Just finding out now how much she exploded is beyond me, though. I think it's a symptom of each generation not knowing what was considered high quality from the previous generation and slowly the bare minimum hit rock bottom. Sorta like how live service games are quickly becoming a thing for the game market because the youths just don't know how it was before.

My favorite Taylor Swift album is 1989, it's not bad.

I only like two songs of her meh album so far they're on the same quality as her older albums. Some disclaimer, I just want to say I judge songs based on how they sound not lyrics. Some people say her lyrics are terrible this album but that's not a deal breaker for me
