Sure, there may be 68,000 people with access. But you're never getting all 68,000 to decide to log in. They'll be lucky if they can get 5,000.

I don't understand how he got 68k in the first place

There are approximately 977 registered users currently using the message boards.

Every user who has visited GameFAQs in the last year and who currently has access to the board will retain access to the board.

Say we average at 1k per day. If we rotate the users and replace everyone with a new user every week, we'll get this many in a year:
Total user = 1k * 52 = 52k

But that's assuming a new full set of users every single week for a year. Needless to say that assumption is wrong so the real total must be lower than 52k, much lower.

Bringing back bounties for a few grand is cool, hypothetically speaking $300,000 is a lot cooler. Roughly 1,000 people online each day is a number but what if that was 10,000 with proper cross-linking, clean up, and things to do?

There are but they are inactive. Only way I could tell is poll of the day results. In the 2000s era, you could get 60k responses easily. Nowadays, youre lucky to get even 7k responses.

At this point there should be an official "2nd CE" we can migrate to and tell fandom to fuck off.

DToast definitely over promising on stuff he has no authority to deliver.

But a few grand for a bounty isn't actually an insane idea. That's similar to what a contact writer might get paid for an article of similar length.

My entire thing is this:

do they really think people aren't flocking to gamefaqs because of CE?

this site has been on life support for so long it's an actual meme across the internet. are they under the impression people haven't been coming here for YEARS strictly because "those CE people are mean"?

the site has refused to change with the times in any real capacity, the admin team is in shambles, the gamespot and now fandom thing were not the best choices in business, they took away things people sorta kinda enjoyed, and now they're making some of their most visited boards either private, or non-existent.

WE'RE GONNA SEE TEN TIMES AS MUCH TRAFFIC IF WE PUSH THIS BOARD INTO THE CLOSET GUYS, I JUST KNOW IT! We can run MORE ads for LESS people! YEAH!

Problem is the number's already dropping, most of those 68,000 don't regularly visit the site to begin with, less actually post, and even fewer post on CE specifically.

GameFAQs should send out a message to the email addresses they have on file for everyone who has access to CE, letting them know about it, so that we could get as many people coming to the board as possible. Of course, GameFAQs probably doesn't care.

Every time I see DToast post, he just comes off more and more as a token corporate figurehead, doing little more than parroting whatever his overlords tell him.
