Atari named the 2600 after its own part number, CX2600. Historically, they have avoided using numbers if possible. Nintendo 64 & Nintendo 2DS & Nintendo 3DS are the exceptions, not the rule. Have Atari or MS continue the 4-Digit naming scheme with their consoles. Nintendo either goes with the most painfully literal description of the machine's function possible, or just a random word/random letters that happen to be pronounceable. Sony just goes with "Playstation" every time, when it honestly sounds more like an indoor playground than a video game system. And Microsoft literally named their console after a concept that they then did a complete 180 on but didn't change the name, and kept the name for the next FOUR installments, while pulling numbers out of nowhere.
