Just got a moderation notice for a romance scam topic I made yesterday about a woman who thought Mark Zuckerberg left his wife and was in love with her, so she sent him money for food, a new phone, etc.

I made an observation that I think was accurate considering what she fell for and how she spoke and carried herself. She obviously needed some type of outside help. Youtube comments said similar things because any idiot could see it.

Ok, in the future I won't make any observations like that. But this is just one more notch on the road to the inevitable purg. They're going to get us for really dumb shit now.

Every person Fandom gets rid of just hurts them more.

Block_that_Kick may have been the first one out. Sad too he was a good poster. I didn't agree with everything he said but he was a good guy.

Glad I got in when I did. Also pretty surprising (to me, anyway) that Fandom only has around 300 employee.

You got an NKL when a suspension based on your history would've been justified, somehow I don't think you're being targeted

Don't forget a lot if not all of the mods are against the recent changes, we're not hitting the queue giddy to suspend everyone on CE

Suspension for what? Apparently whoever modded it didn't watch the video. Considering the length that's a safe bet. I wasn't saying it in a derogatory way and that thought never crossed my mind. I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt that she had cognitive issues making proper life decisions, which she showed throughout the video, and wasn't the biggest idiot to ever get scammed.

Have you had that moment of reflection yet, where you wondered if you had maybe been a tiny bit less lenient Fandom wouldn't have had to take such drastic measures?

Mods can't ban. If you want to blame someone for giving suspended users ton of undeserved chances, blame the admin(s).

There are plenty of retro games that I want codes and secrets for. If I could recall all of them, I would compile a big-ass list and be done with this site.

If this site goes under, it'll be the end of an era.

I hope this is not true for CE at least.

Fandom's Endgame will be to kill the fourms entirely, no matter how sanitized. Keep thinking they have your best interests in mind though.

I think people forget that mods are also posters who enjoy gfaqs

This though there is still ways that can cause more of a bias in terms of moderations.

That's kind of how I feel too.

They can't possibly think that there are thousands of people who want to post on video game message boards, but are scared away by all of the hornyposting.

If I get banned today or get banned tomorrow, what does it matter? The boards themselves are going away soon.

Yahoo message boards were great back in the day. If they didn't a board you were looking for, you could create it. It was probably the best forum experience I've had. Got a little wild though so I can see why they scrapped it.

You absolutely got off light for that considering your history. I didn't even look at the videos, but that euphemism is offensive and has been for a long time. Optimistically, if you didn't know before, consider this a lesson to not use that phrase.

I just said it would be fair. Before that I said how I don't want politics to go from CE so that implies I want CE to be around.

I didn't have the slightest clue it was considered offensive now. It was widely used last I heard. People are looking to find offense in everything these days but the more you know...

It's not insignificant that mods frequent CE, yet Fandom felt the need to take executive action specifically against CE. I don't know what things were like under IGN, CNET, and Red Ventures, but the staff have made it clear things are far less amicable with Fandom. Frankly, it seems they're losing confidence in your judgements and abilities to run the place.
Fandom is universally loathed and GFAQs moderation is equally infamous. Was this an inevitability of being owned by Fandom, who want to take a hard stance against certain discussions, or is the result of a moderation team that has long been on autopilot which forced their hand?
I don't expect we'll have an answer for that.

GFAQs allowed the PS4 board to go completely mask off after Left Behind, and who can forget the MAGA board. It took a riot for them to finally put their foot down. Hardly what one would call strict moderation.
That said, things were fairly under control by the time Fandom took over so it's obvious Fandom just doesn't want political talk. And honestly, they're in their right to do that if that's what they want. Lots of users are fine with that and I'm sure many a mod are glad they don't see the Politics board in their queue anymore.
