OG DragonBall was primarily a gag anime and the power scaling is incredibly inconsistent throughout the entire DB / Z / Super series. Thats why these feats shouldnt be taken very seriously: most of them were done because it was funny. YYH has a more serious and grounded tone. Yusuke also fought with a handicap for at least part of that tournament and got two massive powerups during it.
