They haven't even gone through the first round. A few more people have been excused. I think we're down to 43 total jurors from the original 96.

It's not often we see from Trump for a full day, I have no doubt in my mind this is how he was in the White House during briefings.

I'm assuming that 96 is the maximum number of potential jurors they can cram into that courtroom.

With allegedly 500 people called up for jury duty this can take a while.

From what I understand 96 is the pool, period. The other people only get called if they can't pick a jury out of the 96 they already have.

I really wish Dominion and Smartmatic would force these cases to trial instead of settling. And if they do settle, make the settlement public. They seemingly have all of the leverage you could ever have in a defamation lawsuit, but they keep settling.

I really wish Dominion and Smartmatic would force these cases to trial instead of settling. And if they do settle, make the settlement public. They seemingly have all of the leverage you could ever have in a defamation lawsuit, but they keep settling.

One settlement (Smartmatic/OANN) is confidential, the other (Dominion/Fox News) was settled for $787.5m, as per the Forbes article. That hit them where it hurts.

I don't know how this works. If a defendant is acting out in court and refuses to follow the judge's directions can they be barred from the courtroom during their own trial?

Yeah. The most recent example of this that sticks out in my mind is the Darrell Brooks murder trial. The judge repeatedly had him sit in a separate room all by himself. The judge was muting and unmuting him as necessary.

NYT published a list of the questionnaire being administered to the jurors. This is the initial phase questions. Any who pass this part get more personal interviews.

Here are the 42 questions:

1. Without telling us your address, in what neighborhood do you live? For example, Upper East Side, Lower East Side, Inwood, etc. How long have you lived there? Are you a native New Yorker? If not, where did you live previously?
2. What do you do for a living? How long have you been doing that? If you are retired, please tell us what you did before you retired.
3. Who is your current employer? How large is your current employer? Are you self-employed or own your own business? Who was your prior employer?
4. What is your educational background? For example, high school diploma, college degree, graduate degree, etc.
5. Are you married? Have you ever been married? Do you have children?
6. If you are married, or living with another adult, what does that person do for a living? If you have adult children, what do they do?
7. What do you like to do in your spare time? Do you have any interests or hobbies?

I assume that means that the prosecution used 2 of their 10 strikes to throw out possible jurors before settling on number 7?

Damn, I didn't expect to get all of the jurors selected this week, but it sounds like it's possible that all will be set and Monday will start opening statements?

Also, does anyone know if the jurors are visible to Trump?

Honestly not sure. NYT Said average 5-7 minutes per juror so I'm guessing they have it printed out in front of them and they are asked verbally but they already know the answer because they read the question before it was asked.

I read through them and I think I'd probably get rejected even if I lied about a few answers. #39 must eliminate a lot of people these days.

#39 seems easy, especially when you are hearing the judge say he wants to start on Monday.

#37 would be a hard one for me I don't know if it's enough to disqualify me though. I'd probably add "regardless of my opinion, if the contributed amount was legal, I'd consider it as such."

That's not 42 questions. It's like 150. Some of those questions have 3-5 internal questions

I read that for many potential jurors their old social media posts were being brought up as reasons to disqualify them. It's a reminder that if you're going to post something on social media make sure it's something you wouldn't be embarrassed to have read aloud in a courtroom years later.
