Waxitron_Gazer 04/14/24 9:09:16 PM #1:	I'm looking at this poll on IGN about what PS5 and XSX didn't deliver on and there's nearly 30k votes and in an astonishing lead is the option "true current-gen games" with almost half the vote. Other options are "60fps", "first party exclusives", "no load times", and "8k visuals", in that order of votes received. UAZaqwert 04/14/24 10:10:38 PM #2:	For perhaps the first time in gaming history we are at a weird spot where the hardware is ahead of the software. For the past 50+ years, pretty much all of video gaming history, the software has been straining against the constraints the hardware was placing on it. Game developers ideas and ambition were much bigger than the hardware would allow. But now modern AAA game development is unsustainably long, complicated, and expensive. The hardware now allows more complex software than developers are capable of actually producing quickly and reliably. A car that can go 300 mph is useless if you aren't even capable of handling a car that goes 200 mph correctly. <cite>UAZaqwert posted [p:979910633] in What exact... Halo infinite is prime example of how this gen failed to do so. This gen was also filled remakes and relaunches. And while Horizon: Forbidden West was not the best game IMO, it is absolutely gorgeous. I'm playing it on PC now and I'm really impressed with how the machines in particular look and move.
