He literally stated that he claims different sexualities in interviews to prevent being placed in a box. Fact of the matter is that he is gay with his lifelong partner, so it's 90% likely that he's gay.

I tried explaining this to my grandparents, the ones who introduced me to The Matrix, Indiana Jones, and Ocarina of time. They lost their minds when they found out the creators of The Matrix were both trans. I just restarted the movie and they forgot in about 20minutes

Try it again, and make sure you spell out to them what I just posted when you get to the point where Morpheus offers Neo the choice between the red and blue pills. Also mention to them that Switch was originally supposed to be played by a woman while in the Matrix and by a man in the "real world", to further beat the parallel between the Zionites' rebellion against the machines to trans folks' struggle just to exist into your grandparents' skulls.

Not wanting to be placed in a box is more typical of bisexuality, pansexuality, or sexual fluidity.

Literally every bisexual person is going to have to claim gay/straight just to avoid conversations. Your partner's gender has nothing to do with an individual's bisexuality.

I'll admit, this really surprised me. Suddenly, people had dreams of curb-stomping "thugs". It's like people literally ignored his redemption arc (and the price he paid), and upheld all the values he came to despise.
30 years later, their dreams are inching closer to reality.

These are people who are only now turning against the movie version of Starship Troopers because of how often they are told it was anti-fascist satire. They are now saying the movie was always bad and they were talking about the book.

Also, there is a ton of evidence that the vast majority of the U.S. populace is heavily ignorant when it comes to politics. Don't think you can blame that on voter suppression. I've literally heard real people blame Joe Biden for the loss of Roe v Wade just because he was POTUS at the time.

Lol, if this topic was titled as just a discussion of the movie instead of the way it was titled, this topic would have had only 8 posts instead of 80. People are weird in how different they think.

I love this movie so much it should have made way more money than it did, and been way more ingrained in the cultural zeitgeist to be honest. Feels like it only got popular after the internet popularized it and found a home among all the loving parodies and homages by hilarious internet sketch comics.

It still floors me that it was directed by a woman and she never really made it big it seems. That ridiculous over-the-top sex scene followed by the chainsaw massacre was some terrifying shit.
