Well, that's wrong. The only thing I conceded was about the risks of long covid are probably worse than I aware of, but I will take that chance at this point.

I find it funny that you claim to be an extrovert, and yet have zero empathy for anyone who wants to socialize even years removed from the 2020/2021 peak of the pandemic. You also refused to ever think about the impacts of the economy, mental health, dependencies, childhood development, etc. And these arguments were happening in 2022 and 2023, not 2020 and 2021. You name called everyone who argued with you with even the smallest bit of a moderate view. And you apologized but then returned to it again shortly thereafter.

So you hate having nuance in a movie, which is fine but I still hold onto my opinion that you can't change how people will interpret a movie to see themselves as the hero unless you make the message very on the nose to the point where there's no room for interpretation, which majority of the time makes for very bad movies.

Even then this doesn't work, as seen with people saying that Light did nothing wrong, calling Homelander based when his followers in the final episode of Season 3 literally had the Viking Capitol dude in shot, and the anti fascism messages of Starship Troopers going over people's heads despite Neil Patrick Harris being dressed like a literal nazi.

Speaking of Starship Troopers though, there is actually a comparison and bear with me here, between Johnny Rico and the Jessie character. Both start off each film bright eyed, "oh yeah I'm going to photo the war/kill the bugs just like my idols (who they don't realize are kinda terrible people)" not fully realizing what they're going to be dealing with, then they go through the horrors of war where reality kinda sets in, but by the end they essentially evolved/devolved into the archetype of the character they admired at the beginning where Johnny Rico is now the one in the propaganda piece leading soldiers to war, and Jessie is the more callous photographer who moves on from the death of her idol real quick so she could get front row seats to the Oval Office execution.

He sorta has one more directing movie. It will be called Warfare and he is co director with Ray Mendoza, who I think is a first time director but was the military supervisor for Civil War. Garland says it is more of a support role he is providing though.

Good news is that Garland wrote the screenplay for 28 Years Later, which will be directed by Danny Boyle. So the same team as 28 Days Later, and neither was involved in 28 Weeks Later.

This is true, and it was a couple years ago with Men that he dropped his worst movie which imo had little to offer aside from that one actor pulling a James McAvoy from Split, the ending, and the extremely on the nose messaging. Thankfully Civil War is much better even if it doesn't reach the heights of Ex Machina or Annihilation, because I fucking love those movies so much it would be hard to reach them.

People have some valid criticisms of the film, and saying the film wasnt about that doesnt erase or invalidate those criticisms whatsoever, nor does it make it akin to misinformation.

Yes it does. It's like when Jarhead got ripped apart because people thought it was an action war movie. People are free to dislike something because it wasn't what they expected but it is in no way a films fault if people misinterpret its intent and try to take it out on the movie itself. "Why doesn't this film take a stance on modern American politics" is just as valid as "why doesn't this movie take a stance on American football".

Sounds more like you just dont like the criticism and attacking it because of your own personal bias, tbh.

You dont have to agree but the criticism is certainly valid when you have a film about a modern US civil war. It doesnt have to pick sides in your strawman to provide context or information about the conflict. We already knew early on that the filmmaker was distancing themselves from the current political climate, as well.

I have no idea why youre bringing up football, do you really need to grasp for straws that quick?

some people do have valid criticism about the movie. Its not a perfect movie by any means lol.

but a majority of the complaints are absolutely irrelevant to the film and based on misinfo.

I hope someone in the future takes another crack at this concept but goes deep into the background lore on how the war happens and focuses on the fighting instead of reporters. I'd love a military focused Civil War 2 story. Maybe it could be a series on streaming instead of a movie

Definitely a good film and worth watching. They dont explicitly use words like democrat or republican or trump supporter but the film absolutely explains what is going on, why, who is doing what, etc. It is not ambiguous, nor does it shy from politics, however, this is largely done through clever use of inference and implication with some smattering of expositional dialogue.

So idk if some folks just like trolling or w/e and pushing peoples buttons probably, typical around these part of the woods.
