Dad seems center right from what little I've talked to him about politics. Voted for trump in 2016, but regrets it after his presidency. He doesn't like biden either though. I remember my dad being centrist-ish growing up, but in later years he followed his own parents example and became pretty conservative. Then, in his old age his politics morphed into a literal real life characture of Uncle Ruckus. I knew that he had thrown off his black identity earlier in life, but this was still sad as hell to see. My mom was a peace-loving hippie, but the boomer scaremongering bullshit that the internet has fed into her brain has turned her decidedly more conservative, and it is also sad to see. Makes me wonder if we're going to turn out the same way when we age, or if watching what right wing and scaremongering left wing news has done to our parents will make us more resilient to such changes in views?
