I'd say politicians is still a better answer. They generally gotta make risky decisions sometimes if they wanna get filthy rich. Yeah the make scummy decisions too just saying unless they inherited or stepped into the spot of a well established company that ain't going anywhere anytime soon I'm sure they have made a decision at some point that coulda tanked them.

Politicians can fuck up left and right and still get paid the same had they done good. Worst case scenario they are out of a job next election cycle.

Anyways to add something different almost any job relating to pro sports. As far as athletes go I'd say just give them upper middle class salary then a percentage off any merch their team sales with extra if the merch is specifically them like their jersey for example.

I think athlete salaries are justified.

they length they can work in their field is a lot shorter than other industries, especially with the sport they play.

also, they help make a lot of money for other people, and they're only getting a cut of it.

Why I mentioned most everyone in pro sports. But no I feel 10 million a year is a bit much for pretty much any job.

they help with tourism, entertainment, clothing/shoes/overall accessories, etc. and local businesses and economies.

I stand by what I said on I don't really think anyone should be making that kinda money.

Minimum wage gets talked about a lot. Hardly anyone thinks about a maximum wage

Sport generates a lot of money.

I would rather see the workers (athletes) reap the rewards during their short, injury-prone careers than the billionaire owners.

Miss the part where I said nobody should be making that kinda money?

Which I'm not fully committed to that idea but when I see people making it off something so stupid it starts to make me feel that way.

Think I have a issue with the pay discrepancy too. A lot of positions in say football get no glory but they still put in the work and share the same risks.

I think the animosity toward athlete salaries is really better focused on the owners of those teams. At least the athletes have to legitimately work their asses off and be extremely talented to have a shot at what's a relatively short window of time to make that money - and they are the product! Whatever amount of money is being divvied up between a few thousand athletes (just thinking big 4 American sports, for reference), approx that same amount is getting divvied up between a few hundred owners - largely already-rich people buying already-established franchises and bending cities over a barrel demanding billions in tax dollars to fund their new stadiums.

If cops got paid more they could afford to have higher standards

Same problem with the prison from.my expierence pay isn't enough to attract enough people that would actually be good. So they end up having lower hiring standards just so they got bodies.

Ceos

Politicians are a case where some could put in more work. Realistically, the wealthy politicians are getting money from everything other than the salary of their job.
ACAB, but cops are blue-collar workers at the end of the day.
Landlord isnt a job. Ive got a lot of issues with the housing market and many landlords are less than leeches, but its not a job so I cannot call what may be leeching a salary, despite being a source of income.

CEOs, full stop.

https://www.epi.org/publication/ceo-pay-in-2021/

CEOs were paid 399 times as much as a typical worker in 2021

it's especially egregious because they justify their exorbitant salaries because "woe is me, i have so much responsibility!". but when something bad happens they're almost never held accountable, even when people die so the stock price would marginally increase.

Politicians dont make a lot of money

in fact, imo a lot of local politicians could stand to make more money. There are a lot of places where local politicians have a very low salary which makes the job prohibitive unless youre independently wealthy already

CEOs. It gets worse the more you look at it. They get paid and they get stock options and such. Then there's golden parachutes in case something bad happens. Some *cough*Warner Brothers/Discovery*cought* CEOs get paid billions if they destroy the corporation they're in charge of.

True, but this is about salaries

i guess if you qualify it as federal politician salaries, its closer to true, but $175,000/yr isnt like, a hugely outrageous amount given theoretical importance of the role, and the fact that theyre basically at work for the entire duration of their tenure

in Wisconsin legislators make $57,000/yr and in a time where the GOP leadership basically does nothing that seems like too much, but also that isnt a very attractive salary for someone who is actually capable of legislating
Yeah, state and local politicians do not get paid much at all, and unless that changes, they are going to consist of already wealthy people who most likely away older, rather than younger.
