This is an odd thing with search results and various websites, they really don't want to give you opening time or full store hours.

All they want you to know if if the store is open now, and when it closes. Why do many businesses and search features online not want to tell you the full operating schedule?

I wonder what bizarre manipulative algorithm study told corporate big tech America they should stop making comprehensive store hours hard to find online... because I'd bet a thousand bucks that's why.

Am I crazy for noticing this?
Does this seem weird and annoy anyone else?

Big ones like Walmart and Best Buy are consistent, but small ma and pa shops aren't because they don't even update it themselves.

I have no clue what you're talking about. I've never had an issue finding store hours both from searching or from sites themselves.

This was a constant fight at my last job. Wrong information would get posted all the time and I'd fix it. Then someone would complain we were closed when the internet said we were open, and I'd see that the wrong hours were back.

Yeah... because I can plan out a before work stop by wasting gas and making an extra trip now... way more convenient and cost effective than looking it up online!

You can always call and if they don't pick up, go somewhere else.

Yes, there are an infinite number of shops that sell the products I wanted in the general area that I can probably guess their hours. This is a superior approach.

All of this is way easier than listing daily hours of operation on a website that already lists closing times and real time open or closed indicator.

That wasn't a solution to your problem. I just wanted to post the bizarre store hours >_>

But I haven't encountered what you're talking about. On Google maps, if I click on a business, it will tell me "open" or "closed" but it will also have a little drop down that shows their full business hours as well

I don't think I've ever seen something not have the hours listed. Sometimes it's in like a drop down tab, but they're almost always there.

Probably a UX issue.

Basically, websites are still made like 80's games where the programmers made the art and the design and everything because they just, didn't realize this was the kind of thing that needed thinking about.

Except unlike 80's games, modern websites do a ton of stuff instead of just being able to walk and jump, so this approach of just having some nerd with a CS degree put stuff wherever the hell makes sense to him results in the entire internet being an unusable catastrophe.

UX consultant is a real position, but as with any kind of consultation or advice, it's generally consulted solely so that the person requesting the consultation can feel validated in the garbage they had already decided on, even if the consultation they paid for tells them their garbage is garbage. Instead of UX consultants, full time UX experts should be a part of the team, at an earlier stage in the pipeline than the first prototype. But this doesn't happen because despite how prevalent it is in our lives, the Internet is still in its infancy.
