He rolls for Pierce to teabag the sword, for example.

It pretty much only comes up when they could connect a joke to it IIRC.

yeah they quite obviously skip a lot of turns/dice rolling because it had to be a 23 minute episode and not a 4+ hour D&D session

Oh, it's also not fair to say he's railroading them, the players just choose to stay on the rails. In the second episode, David Cross makes the same complaint and Abed pulls out a massive binder of worldbuilding.

Not kicking the toxic player is a legitimate complaint, but then you just wouldn't have a conflict on that episode.

Harmon played DnD, I think he did a decent job at capturing a really simplified version.

I feel like that was supposed to be an homage to the Star Trek episode with Frank Gorshin, but was shortsighted on WWF's part due to it being a feud with a black man.

When I was younger, I thought it was a reference to Two-Face since he said, "Maybe I'm a little bit two-faced," before turning his profile so that the camera could see that half of his face and body were painted black. In hindsight, that was a bit naive.

have you seen the episode? it's not really blackface the way people usually think of it. it's not a caricature, it's more like a cosplay because his neck/chest and arms and hands are painted too. and he's wearing elf ears.

plus it's one of the best episodes of the show and his character is dead in the first 5 minutes anyway. if anything they could just edit his scenes out.

no, one of the black characters called it a hate crime. and that actress has already said she doesn't think the episode should be banned.

True.

I guess I have a hard time being angered by such though is when episodes like this could be made, well we all thought back before the last half of the decade that no one would give a major racist person power.

And yeah I feel certain people today need to get it through their heads that tolerating a (real) racist person is just as bad as being racist (Especially when people try to defend racism and bigotry as just another opinion*).

*Such a claim is basically like saying that bigotry is a trivial offense.
