And yes, I'll probably work until I drop dead. Considering that's what corporations have lobbied for and pushed us towards for the last three decades, I'm not particularly surprised that's how it turned out.

I can see why many think this, even if they save and live to retirement you could have a crap ton of health issues by then that will prevent you from fulling enjoying it.

At the moment the amount that people they would say they need to "live comfortably" in retirement is 1.3 Million. They also say that you're supposed to be saving 15% of your income for retirement in order to hit your goals and live relatively the same as your current living conditions.

That is not feasible for like 3/4ths of people. Add in that the retirement age is steadily going up and is already at 67, the chances of any of us seeing Social Security or anything else in 40 years is basically null.
