Let's look at 100m times.

Jacoby Ford and Jeff Demps ran a 10.01. They aren't dedicated track athletes.

Fastest time in Germany? 10.01.
Fastest time in Sweden? 10.13
Fastest time in Denmark? 10.14
Fastest time in Finland? 10.12
Fastest time in Russia? 10.10
Fastest time in Ukraine? 10.09
Fastest time in Baltics? 10.14
Fastest time in Balkans(sans Turkey)? 10.08

Oh and Poland beat their time with a 10.00. It was barely legal as a time because of wind speed though.

Aye they need to be superfit for the 5 minutes total they spend running around and the 55 minutes they spend in time-outs.

Better than basketball. Literally seen 2.6 seconds on the clock take 5 minutes due to foul after foul.

This cope would actually make sense if European track runners were substantially faster(they are not).

Before I really got into football I definitely was one of those morons that would point out how "fat" the offensive linemen were.

When you really get into the sport and see how fast those 300 pound mountains can move it really changes your perspective.

No.

Not calling you out specifically, but there are absolutely Europeans who think that American Football is just unathletic fat dudes smashing into each other.

Bonus points if they're from the UK and make snide comparisons to Rugby.

Wait.

Welsh "generational talent" Louis Rees Zammit.

28 inch vertical.
Hand timed 4.46.
He's barely an average athlete by NFL standards.

There are dudes younger who are bigger stronger and faster.

This tired ass rugby argument. The only rugby players who ever pop up in the nfl are kickers.

But rugby players are tougher! If the nfl played no pads or helmets people would die weekly.

The best rugby player in the world wouldnt make an nfl practice squad.

Look at Rugby salaries vs NFL salaries.

If Rugby players are so much tougher...

Why don't they play in the NFL?

We've seen basketball players make the transition lmao to tight end.

What's stopping a Rugby player from making 20m a year or more as a DE?

Really? Not one of them wanted retirement money?

I would disagree with that. I would say most Americans don't care enough to have an opinion either way. No Americans are thinking that soccer players are out of shape ball kickers. We just don't think about soccer period.

It's the both ways thing.

There's a relatively small number of Americans who appreciate football/soccer, and a relatively small number of Europeans who love the NFL.

Outside of that, most don't know or care about the sports they don't follow.

I've seen you trying to argue far more questionable things. And 100m times are not the only measure of athleticism.

I've tried to get into NFL a few times, the actual play is pretty exciting, but the constant breaks just put me right off.

I'd say there's generally a huge dunning-kruger type effect going on with people in general when it comes to athletic ability. Like so many people who think they could one-on-one an NBA player because they were best in their high school, or guys that think they could beat up an MMA pro because they're larger than them, etc.

The ego of men knows no bounds

Saying that Jeff Demps wasn't a dedicated track athlete is just outright false lmao. The guy played football as a side hobby and was only good at it in college because he was fast as hell from running track.

Also specifically having to cite pretty much two of the fastest-known players in history, who were also both dedicated track athletes, is kind of weird when you're trying to make this about "NFL players".

You aren't a dedicated track athlete if you quit that shit at 22 and focus on football as you get older.

I'm just pointing out nfl players are generally as fast as top sprinters from Europe.

There are plenty of guys that run fast enough to get into say. Top 10 in Germany.

I think it goes without saying, if there's a pro athlete, they're going to be absurdly athletic.

In the 23 XFL season, there was this one play where it was downright comical how fast this dude was. From the camera angle, you could barely see him until he just ran straight through the line and clobbered the QB. He was legit hauling it anyway, but the way he was obscured made it look like he just materialized going a billionty trillion miles per hour. The commentator even said something to the effect of "he just shot out of a cannon."

Gracious, I wish I could find a video but I don't remember which game it was.
