It is the plot, but not because of plot. They state multiple times that they could easily subdue humanity but that would only confirm the fears people have.

I think this point is really going over people's heads when arguing that powers means they cannot be oppressed:
StealThisSheen posted...
I mean a vast majority of X-Men mutants don't have literal "nuke" powers. Some of them have stuff like "Grow quills kinda sorta and also you can't turn it off so people judge you for looking weird."

The stories tend to focus more on the super powered heroes and villains, but a lot of the mutants don't have elite fighting powers. Some of the mutants just look odd, or have powers unhelpful in combat. I remember a story about a kid who manifested self-melting powers, and before he could learn to control it he just melted away and died. Not exactly a great addition to a rebel militia.

Plus, there's also the fact that the X-Men have seen several dystopian futures where a large portion of the mutants were eradicated or enslaved. The Sentinels and power inhibitors have been shown to be able to subdue the mutant population, regardless of their superpowers.

See the whole thing is the whole marginalized group thing worked when their power levels were more grounded

When you have Jean Grey holding the universe in her hands...literally.

I don't buy it.

You aren't oppressed. You can annihilate the universe with a thought.

So if you can kill people, you can't be oppressed?

So... Literally nobody is a marginalized group, according to you, as long as atleast one member of their group can kill people?

I wasn't aware of who the villain was in the Twitter clip.

Apparently he is Carl Denti. Aka, the X-CUTIONER.
https://www.marvel.com/characters/x-cutioner-carl-denti

Striving to make the world a better place, X-Cutioner vows to hunt down mutant criminals.

Seems a charitable description, considering he is described also as an "Anti-Mutant Crusader". Described as...
a former F.B.I. agent whose twisted sense of justice led him to launch a one-man war against mutantkind.

Also...

Wielding an arsenal of deadly weapons, X-Cutioner uses his twisted sense of justice to justify his vile crusade against mutants. Inspired by the Punisher's war on crime, government agent Carl Denti armed himself with lethal weapons and launched a one-man war on mutant criminals before setting his sights on mutantkind as a whole.

So a guy who transitions from going after lawbreaking mutants to all mutants as a whole. Also is a fan of the Punisher...who is liked by some unsavory real life individuals...such as corrupt cops and hate groups who adopt his symbolism. I see what the writers were going for.

The analogy is really clear in the X-Men. Hating and fearing mutants parallels real life racism and bigotry.

If you want to make an argument about the flaws in the analogy, then sure.

If you want to use them to somehow justify the feelings of the hate groups, things are going to look questionable.

The current era that is coming to an end was colloquially called the "house of x" or "dawn of x" era. Its very long and very oxnvluted but its an amazing story. Basically read house of x/powers of x(these two series are basicslly 1 story and kick off the whole thing) and if you dig that you'll probably enjoy some of this era.
