He was cool, but he didnt act or was like any version of Aquaman there was. Same with the Flash. Snyder really didnt know the characters he was creating for the movie universe

I wasnt entirely behind the casting but the series had much bigger problems than that.

I mean Atlantis is in the Atlantic Ocean. Polynesia is in the Pacific. It's not so much his race though. Just that he looks so barbarian like. In the comics he was a normal looking kid when he grew up on land. He wasn't a wrestler

In Davids run he wasnt a drunken aloof person making bad jokes acting like the loud party frat guy.

That's a different conversation and that's on Snyder and WB with how the character acted. The TC was specifically referring to his appearance.

The casting for DC films is relatively bad not because of the looks but because of the actual acting.

I liked him and thought he was cool. I definitely was raised with super friends so Aquaman appearing cool is a big ask.

Ironically enough OP's picture looks exactly like his brother.

It never bothered me, I like the actor and I liked his portrayal of a reluctant king who didn't want anything to do with Atlantis and had to be dragged into their bullshit by his asshole brother who ultimately came to regret his decision.

Momoa wasn't the reason Aquaman sucked, it was that Aquaman isn't a compelling character. At least what we got in the 3 films at least.

He was just a dude bro for 2 films, then whatever he was for the 3rd film.

Can't comment on the movie, but I never cared much for edgy Aquaman with a hook/harpoon/whatever hand. Seems like a forced response to the Super Friends Aquaman jokes.

Yeah, Momoa seems to have been chosen exclusively out of the coolness factor and wanting to fix Aquaman's image in the mainstream. End result is that he doesnt feel like a real character, but a person manufactured in a big wigs meeting.

I would argue aquaman is the best portrayal they came up with out of the characters. It was definitely the most successful looking at the box office.

In all honesty, trying to make Aquaman this badass masculine alpha male is a lost cause. The memes, which predate the internet by decades, are more famous than the character himself. Water is an element that has been associated with femininity for millennia. And the color scheme doesn't even look manly.

They're better off making him a twink. Let him be the sexy, cleanshaven male with a swimmer's build (fitting, I know) and let the pieces fall where they may. If you're open-minded about Aquaman as a character, you might like him. If you're still stuck on "he can't do anything outside of the water," you were never gonna shake that anyway.

Jason Momoa as Lobo is immeasurably better casting.

The only thing I didn't really like was the brown hair. He was fine otherwise. Snyder script issues notwithstanding.

Assuming you mean live action, I'd say Watchmen. The only thing they changed was the specific mechanism of Veidt's plan. Everything else was super accurate.

The MCU doesn't have a Kraven yet, do they? He'll probably be tied up in exclusivity contracts for a hot minute, but he could still play the character on down the road. Isn't Kraven a little on the older side anyway?

I agree with a lot of people in this topic.

He worked, he pulled in a lot of people, he was fun and it was well done in that regard.

As someone who always thought aquaman was lame (so are pyro and iceman btw) I actually liked the first one and watched it a couple times.

but thats the thing Im not a fan, and Ive always thought making a new entry for an IP designed to appeal to people who dont like thing, instead of those who actually do is fucked up.

My only confusion is that he brought heavy pacific islander influence into the character -- but that seems totally alien from his characterization in Justice League. I'm all for Hawaiian aquaman... but commit if you're going to do it.

That doesn't prohibit Disney/Marvel from having their own though, right? At worst, they'll have to wait 5 to 10 years. That'd put Jason at a good age to play the character anyway.
