One of the maister giving npcs died on me by falling off a cliff so had to revive him

Found out that Maisters can be exclusive, and that you need to use forgery services to get all of them in one playthru. Lost several hours of exploration progress by loading from last inn rest.

The more I play this game the more issues I have with it. Its not garbage or anything but I vastly prefer DD/DA and while some stuff is better many other things are worse, especially in what I liked in the magic and vocation departments. This feels like a sidestep instead of an upgrade and just as much is an unfinished version of the original vision as the first game was. Its my own fault for expecting too much but this isnt what I waited 13 years for.

I have my Pawn set as Thief right now, having her use Plunder.

She's gotten a lot of nice stuff, including Ferrystones and high end crafting mats.

Dang that sucks. I looked up spoilers beforehand because I was worried about missables.
I definitely would have missed out on one of the sorcerer spells otherwise.

I'm not too worried about missables since this game is meant to be played over and over through NG+, so I plan to go through it multiple times.

Lol, beat the game and the cat prostitute ended up being my third closest person from all the cash I wasted on her to get the platinum membership card.

pretty much where i'm at. wouldn't be so bad if there was a fun, meaningful endgame loop, but there's not. and the more sidequests i go back and do, the more i realize all the quests suck. go here, talk, wait a couple days, i need this and that, wait a couple days. nothing really happens.

example: find the jadeite orb, okay, did bandits steal it, do goblins have it, is it lodged in a golem? nope, it's for sale right over there. okay. cool quest. epic.

another example: get scalecinder from the cave outside the city. sweeeet, is it gonna be raided by enemies, is the scalecinder lost deep within an abandoned mine system? is a minotaur hoarding it? no, it's just on the ground. there are no enemies. pick it up. okay. cool quest. epic.

Dragon's dogma 2 is case and point for terrible open world and questing design. Some of the pros such as combat easily get overshadowed by all the problems I have with the game in other areas. It's just extremely tedious to play. I liked the vocations better in DD1, and I also liked that you could just play what you wanted to as soon as you got to the city.

Also I was crossing the border by hiding in a royal cart. Random dude jumps in with me so I threw his ass out cuz I didn't want the chance that he'd give me away. Unfortunately there was a rock wall when I threw him out so he made a nice splat lmao

That's hilarious. I tried the same trick of hiding in a cart. It was working and the gate opened and we were going through, but then my dumbass had to poke out a moment too early like "omg are we there yet" and the guard caught me and took me out lol. So I just showed him my house residency pass and he let me slide.

Thief in DD2

Her old class (that wasn't just used to level the vocation) was Archer because I do miss Strider. For both Thief and Archer I was going for the general look of that Thief teacher in the Grimgar anime, except I like the color green a lot more than red

I've only been able to play like an hour and a half every few days but I'm having a lot of fun with this one. More than the first I think.

I came up on an ox cart on a road today that was getting attacked by lizards that I made quick work of. Then some straggler goblin popped out of nowhere and started attacking it. Suddenly a griffin landed on the goblin and the ox cart destroying everything lmao it was intense. Killed that griffin pretty smoothly. Since then I've encountered two more griffins but they dip out around half health and I dunno how to keep them grounded long enough to kill them smh.

The wings are the weak part, and if you can get enough damage on them quick-like they'll straight up catch fire.

Hard to fly like that.

If that doesnt work the game should autosave when they fly away and if you reload the save it usually resets their AI and they start fighting again. Otherwise youre just supposed to try to follow them to their nest.

Oh, I messed up.

You need Fire damage to get the full fwoosh screech effect going.

A Mage with Fire Boon works very well.

Meteoron also works but there's very little in this game that holds up well to orbital bombardment.

Yeah game heavily needs transmog options. Too much boob armor and thongs = high defense stats lol

my friend and i have just stopped giving a shit about armour stats and going purely for aesthetics.

Plus I (and quite a few others) refuse to pick a Pawn with a full face helmet, which dramatically hampers a Warrior's available gear.

you can toggle the visor on many helmets which ends up showing their faces.

and the signs of dragon plague aren't as unobvious as people would have you believe. still an annoying mechanic, but you can see the signs of it ahead of time, even without being to see their faces.

I just want Eye Before Buy so I don't waste my time grabbing a Pawn that's gonna get tossed into the ocean in five minutes so I can repeat the process.

i believe if you select the helmet in the inventory screen while it's equipped you can select raise/lower visor, or something similar. i did it on my main pawn just a bit ago, who was wearing the Marcher helmet, but i don't remember the exact steps.

Yeah, if someone gets knocked down she'll jump on and rifle through their pockets.

You get more rotten meat than you'd like but also some great shit.

I'm playing thief so I'm guessing the ignite blade move is enough. My pawn is a mage still trying to figure out what attacks to assign to it.

My usual recs are, in descending order:

Celestial Peaen (Huge AoE and you can spam specials)
Elemental Boon (Ice is probably the highest mileage, followed by Fire)
Palladium (or whatever, three free attack absorbs is great)
Empyrean (decent Holy damage, but the huge light is super helpful at night/in caves because ambient lighting effects things like Magick Archer lock-on)
Celerity (faster attacks, faster movement, can be cast on the overworld by using Help)
Halidom (only if you don't have many curatives)
Levin (if you need an attack, higher-level ones don't always since upping team DPS is more effective than individual)

The single-target heal is also a possibility but mostly for lower level.

So at your point I'd say Levin/Empyrean (you're still pretty low), Celestial P (if you have it), Palladium, Boon, Celerity, Halidom in that order.

Yeah I added it a couple days ago and it's been great. Her moveset is Plunder, Skull Splitter, Implicate, and Cutting Wind. She knows the meister skill too but eh. On the way to fight a drake by a waterfall which took like 5 minutes of walking she pillaged enough shards to make a Wakestone from random enemies

Also I suddenly maxed out my affinity with my pawn when I saw scars on her with her corset on and took her to that sauna, and now she blushes or stares at me like a dummy here and there. Need DLC right now.

Exactly the same as mine.

Haven't really gotten the augments down yet, she's definitely got Subtlety, the faster climb, and the boost to Strength, other three I either haven't finalized or don't recall.

The Meister skill is great for you (the dodge one, the fire one is garbage) but a waste of a slot for Pawns.

Same I'm just guessing what's good. She has Subtlety (decrease likelihood of being targeted), Endurance (+stamina), Verve (+strength), Lethality (+damage when striking enemy vitals), Mettle (+physical defense), and Avidity (climb terrain and enemies faster)

I'm guessing other good options are Vigor (reduce stamina loss when clinging or pinning down enemies), Dominance (+knockdown power), and Exaltation (+stamina recovery speed). But I'm not sure how important stamina is for pawns. If it's not that important I'll swap in Dominance for Endurance

I'm pretty sure the stamina augs aren't particularly useful for Pawns, but I'm not 100%.

Also, the one for Mage that increases buff time?

It only works on the Mage, skip it.

I haven't played in awhile. Been busy having to actually do work at work instead of playing video games all day.

I am thinking I am going to start over. I don't like how my arisen looks and it is probably easier than using the currency to change it. Plus I want to play the full game with M+K because it is just so much better. No one has rented my main pawn yet either so there is really no loss at all in me starting over.

I see they added a New Game button finally. What exactly happens when I press that button? Like it will just overwrite my old game? If so that is pretty nice actually.

The opposite, I believe.

DD1 and this game (up until the patch) worked like that. No starting a new game without nuking your file.

Don't know exactly how it works but you should be able to have multiple saves now.

Ooooh, my mistake, apologies.

So now it's like 1, you can start a new file from the menu instead of hunting down and deleting the save files.

Yeah, it certainly is more convenient. I was thinking coming into this that I was going to have to hunt down all the save files and turn off cloud sync.

Looked into the armor stuff more for thieves and since I'm on PC and not in post game I just gave my pawn 2 modded endgame pieces to compare (just stopped there since I'm not done with the game and didn't want to ruin the playthrough, my Arisen is still rocking non-upgraded crap that I found). I got the corset and the blades I have from people who rented my pawn, today is the first time I've messed with mods for this game and I won't gift OP weapons to other people until I reach that part of the game myself (like I did in DD:DA) so I don't cheapen their experience too. Stats holding the same daggers

Maxed out Charming Corset stats (dwarven smithed, dragonforged)
Strength: 795

Magick: 836

So a skimpy corset has 6 point lower defense, 99 higher magick defense, 78 higher knockdown resistance, and 5% higher slash resistance compared to 2 pieces of maxed out endgame gear. Left out head armor because you could apply it to both cases and I wasn't gonna wear it anyway
