Remember how we went to Iraq to "spread democracy" when there's all sorts of regimes we could have toppled instead in Congo/Somolia/etc? Same deal here. You make a broad approach for Ticketmaster in general, and a narrow scope to just Apple Hardware. Apples to apples(no pun intended) would be market share equivalences. You are talking about all tickets anywhere, I assume, versus apps on a single platform(please correct me if I'm mistaken). The fair comparison would be all ticket sales anywhere versus all apps everywhere. Ticketmaster controls more than 70 percent of the ticketing and live events market in the world. Apples iOS is less than 30 percent. But it ultimately doesn't matter because both Apple and LiveNation-Ticketmaster are in the wrong here. Not only does it not have to be one or the other, it isn't. These are the unusual patterns in thought caused by a lack of antitrust enforcement. When it doesn't happen when it clearly should, people start making up their own reasons and conspiracies.
